Well guys. Maybe I'll be the only one to say that I love this album. Yes, maybe they could've got more creative with some parts and maybe this was WCARs downfall album. But I do love this album. It really hits hard with "Tracing Back Roots" with Dave's kickass fry scream, that never really gets old. But then dies down with Kyle singing My home is in your heart. And Kyle's voice has improved a lot since "Understanding what we've grown to be". Then heads into "Fade Away" which I thought had some amazing lyrics and we heard Dave sing. It was a little flat faced and could've been a little more intense or just creative. "I Survive" was spectacular. One of WCAR's only slow songs and it was pretty surprising. It was smooth and was well written although I think there could've been more to the bridge. "Ghosts" I would have to say is one of WCAR's best songs. The only song so far besides "Tracing back roots" that was intense. More of an edge of your seat song. "Present, Future, Past" was decent. Im gonna be honest. Lyrics were incredible, and music was well organized. But I wasn't really into the screaming on this song. It really got good once Kyle started singing. "Never let me go" is my favorite song on the album. One song I can surely relate to and had a great overall sound to it. "Hope" as we know was on "Understanding what we've grown to be" but they added it in. Which I have no problem with. If you want to call WCAR generic then you can say that on this song. However I like it but I do see some generic post-hardcore in it. "Tell me now" really stood out. There was a lot of tension in it and everything was perfect in this song. Couldn't of made it better. "A moment" I know was a little poppy. But I really enjoyed it. It was a song that you could just jump around to and have a good time listening to it. "I am free" was maybe the best song on the album. A hard hitting intro and a chorus that easily gets stuck in your head. And lastly "Through the darkest dark and the brightest bright" I wasn't really into this song, maybe the one that fell flat besides "Fade Away". However if you listened to the two bonus songs "One Face, "Recklessness" maybe you could agree that those were two of WCAR's best songs. |

First off I am a huge ADTR fan. And it all started with listening to What Separates Me From You. So then on I listened to their other albums. Didn't take long for me to love them. I found out they were coming out with a new album and I was shocked with peer excitement. So a couple months after it came out I found it at Wal-Mart and bought it. I listened and found it was an easy album to love. With one hell of a song to kick it off. A very relatable album in ways. Like with "City of Ocala, "Right back at it again", and "Sometimes your the hammer, sometimes your the nail", it kicked off about when they were starting out, and I'm in a forming band right now so it was really inspiring to hear those songs. Every song was written really well with no generic hardcore base to it. The guitars had really blown me away. You cant say generic if you've listen to any of their albums. This record hit me hard, and one of their best works. |
