Personally, I think the acoustic tracks are beautiful, but I'm still trying to figure out their place in the album. If anything, Defeater should have released them as a bonus disc or something for a re-release. Either way, this album is amazing, and I'm sure this has been beaten to death already, but the ending of "White Oak Doors" leaves me speechless every time. If they ended the album with that, and only that, the cut-off mid-sentence into silence, I would have given it a 5. It would have just tied the whole concept together a little tighter than progressing into the acoustic tracks. But this is Defeater, I don't see them ever doing wrong. Cannot wait to see them with La Dispute and Native. |
