One thing that I found interesting about this album was the fact that it could mix rock and folk at the same time, and it still comes across mainly as a folk record, but folk with an edge, just like Bob Dylan's early works. Overall, this album leaves you with a huge sense of satisfaction, packing in catchy tunes with meaningful lyrics. There was the first Acoustic Springsteen album Nebraska, which was a classic, and there was The Ghost Of Tom Joad. But this is unlike Tom Joad, and Nebraska, this album seems to be brighter even though it focuses on such dark things (war mainly). May have came as a surprise after The Rising, his comeback album, as well as E Street Band re, and then he goes back to an acoustic album, but thank god he did. Devils & Dust is one of Bruce's best albums period. |
