Yeah Hellion666Nick must not be a fan of this type of music because I was thoroughly impressed. The singers melodic vocals and the (sometimes) light horns, keyboards and turntables flow perfectly. Not quite as poppy as their older stuff, but definitely not too different to scare off fans of the older stuff (I am a large fan of all their work).
Although all the tracks are very good, the stand outs for me are "So Many Nights" which reminds me of classic brit pop rock with a keyboard heavy chorus; "Panama" which is a very soothing and melodic wonder with light piano throughout; and "No Longer There" which is a tragic beauty that perfectly implements nearly romantic-sounding trumpets.
Overall, if you are a fan of ska or classic rock, I'd give this album a shot. You will more than likely enjoy it. |
