After enjoying FTWHH, I was pretty surprised to seem them take a slightly different approach. They're still having fun as always, but I'm not feeling the amount of heart put into this as compared to the last album. I don't think it's horrible by any means, but not as good as FTWHH. The melodys are great, and the breakdowns aren't as excessive, a little more thought out, but still kind of bland. And the decision to have harder songs, and then come with an all out poppish song, right after the heavier ones, is kind of a bad one, but I still like those poppier songs. For the most part, I can enjoy almost every single song, because of how catchy it is but it's nowhere near as good as FTWHH. But the best here I think are My Life For Hire, I'm Made Of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?, Welcome To the Family, and Holdin' It Down For the Underground. |

This album was very well done, for the fact that A Day To Remember does this for the fun of playing music. It's extremely catchy, and most of the breakdowns are pretty brutal. It doesn't go without it faults though, the breakdowns do get typical and boring, and the same goes with some of the songs. Some aren't up to the standards that the other songs set. My list of recommended tracks would be: Monument, A Shot In the Dark, Speak of the Devil, and Show Em' the Ropes. The rest of the songs aren't that bad though. If you haven't listened to this by now, you should give it a shot. |

After the success of TFoI, ATR comes back with a pretty big disappointment to most, but enough to keep some satisfied. The big thing I don't like about this is the production. Obviously it's way different then when Adam did it. The cleans would have probably been better if he produced it. Well actually all the vocals would have been. I like the more use of cleans but the production just brings it down and it could have been a lot more. The guitars are awesome like always, drums still playing some sweet beats. Some of the best songs I think on this album are: Before the Damned, Two Weeks, Chrion, and A Song For The Hopeless |

Silence was the first album I heard from Blindside, and I liked it a lot, even though it was kind of repetitive. On About A Burning Fire, they expand on their experimentation and created some of their best songs. Christian's vocals are excellent as always, the guitar though nothing special, is still good for the melody and the harder parts of the album. Drums are upbeat and fit the songs well. Most of the songs are good, some are kind of boring, Shekina kind of is, but not enough to where i'll never listen to it again. About A Burning Fire is the best song on here, and probably their best song ever. It's just amazing how much emotion is in that song. Great album, if you haven't heard it, either listen to it, or Silence. |

I heard of BFMV when I heard their single 4 Words. I liked that album, even though it was typical, just something about them stood out. On their sophomore release, they find themselves maturing and it shows well. The lyrics are much better in most songs, and the songwriting is great and well exectued. There's not as much screaming, since Matt had surgery but it's still great without all of it. Hearts Burst Into Fire has got to be one of their best songs, if not their best. Definitely better than Tears Don't Fall though. The best songs on this album are Hearts Burst Into Fire, Take It Out On Me, End of Days, and Last To Know. |

With the succes of Wonder What's Next and the somewhat success of This Type Of Thinking, Vena Sera is a great step up. Pete's vocals are better than ever, often going into his higher vocals, while screaming less. His screaming sounds more powerful though, as if he's in pain. The guitars are more kind of lead based, faster and upbeat, as well as the drums. Some nice double bass kick in effect too, which helps the album out. The bass itself is better than the last two albums. As Chevelle continues to travel down the path of Hard Rock and alternative Metal, they'll keep maturing and it looks like they should get better from here. |

I, Lucifer is a nice departure from Saints. A lot more melodic for sure. Chad's singing voice is pleasant, but there's just something about it that makes the songs a tad boring. I like when the guitars are playing melodic parts, it makes the song feel like it's just floating out there. The drums have some nice patterns (i.e. Crumbs For the Murder, A Bag Of Marbles) When the album gets heavy, it doesn't sound a whole lot like Saints, which is good, except for the starting of Luxuria. Other than that, it's a good sophomore effort, and i'm curious to see what they do next. |

This is an excellent debut. This album I think is underrated. The transition of songs ranging from heavy metal, to a more mellow and acoustic rock songs, is sweet. The guitar is great, with some amazing riffing in some parts, the acoustic parts are nice too. The vocals are definitely the highlight of this album. His screaming is just insanely high and his lower screams are brutal, but not like death metal growling. His cleans are ever so present being my favorite part about this album. It's just so unique and emotional. Also the cleans sound quite different from song to song. The cleans in Light the Fire sound way different than songs like Tranquilized and Needed You More. The songs I would recommend are: Light The Fire, Tranquilized, Needed You More, Falling, and Paper Thin. I like all the other songs though. Amazing start for this band. |

An awesome debut metalcore release. The drums are amazingly awesome, with the double bass and how fast he can actually drum on the snares. The guitars are great with sweet solos and riffs. The vocals are kind of generic for metalcore. The thing that stands out to me is the use of clean vocals. It's only used in 3 songs. (The Chosen One, I'm Not Afraid Of Tomorrow, and Restless In The Tides) I would like it if they tried to do more cleans on their next album. But this album is a great start and it does smack you right across the face, on many occasions. |

Haste the Day's second album is more poppier than Burning Bridges, but still good on most levels. The vocals of Jimmy come back and tear you apart like always. Brennan's cleans are great, a little faster paced to me than on BB, but still awesome. The guitars are a little farther down than on BB, there's still some good riffing here and there, but nothing specatcular. There is a solo on their poppiest song called Long Way Down, and it's my favorite song on this album, even though it's different, it's good. The best songs on this album are: Long Way Down, Fallen, Walk On, When Everything Falls, and If I Could See. |

After listening to PTH, (and I still do, it's still one of my favorite albums) I bought dreamer on my birthday. I wanted to be suprised to see what they could do with Steven's expeirence. I was disappointed, but also kind of satisfied. They went back to sounding like Burning Bridges, but nowhere near as great as that album. Stephen's vocals are a little deeper, more demonic sounding, and his cleans are less implemented but still good. Brennan and Mike still do a great job helping steven with the vocals. The guitar is down a lot, no solos whatsoever (except for like the 3 second spot in Invoke Reform) Overall, it's good but also average for the fact that they didn't expand of the success of PTH. |

Haste the Day Pressure the Hinges | 4.5 |
The first song I heard by them was called "White Collar" on tv. I was really impressed with the muscianship and the vocals. It sold me and I bought the special edition. This album actually got me back into the old Haste the Day. Even though Steven can't do snake hissing vocals, his somewhat mediocre growl is actually pretty nice. What makes him even better is the fact that he can do awesome clean vocals. And with Brennan and Mike adding back up vocals it's just amazing. Jason stepped up on this album, with a couple solos and kind of old-school rock/heavy metal guitar playing. The hardcorish breakdowns are nowhere near excessive on this album, those being at the end of The Minor Prophets, Needles, and Chorus Of Angels. Every song also has a different feel to it, between Stitches, Vertigo, and Akeldema, it actually feels like three separate songs. Which is quite amazing to me. Even though Jimmy's gone, Stephen makes up for him on this album. |

I haven't heard there first album at all, but this one isn't that bad, but it's not great either. They have some pretty good songs, the guitars have some sweet riffing here and there. The drums have a few cool fills. The vocals are awesome. With all the screaming, and then coming with high cleans, it's just awesome. It kinda reminds me of the screamer from underoath and the drummer as one person, but not a whole lot. The vocalist sounds like that a little. But other than that it's a good sophomore effort. Tracks like It's Myself Vs. Being A Man, I Needed A Spaceship, Is the Fact That I'm Trying To Do It..., and Knowledge=Priceless are the best from this album. Others have good parts here and there, but are more forgettable. |

For a 5 song e.p. this the best i've heard since Bullet For My Valentine's Hand Of Blood. Memphis May Fire is definitely better in terms of musicianship. The vocals are outstanding, with the lead vocalist screaming his heart out. He can also pull of great clean vocals. The guitarist also pulls off some great backup cleans to make dual harmonies with the lead vocalist. The guitar is pretty sweet, with the hardcore riffs, mixed with southern styling riffs, it makes an excellent combination. The Drums are great just like the guitars. Vocals are definitely the highlight. Even though the lead vocalist is gone, I can't wait to see what the new one brings. |

The clean vocals are a highlight for sure, as it sounds just angelic for a metalcore band. The guitars are great with heavy riffing, contrasted with the awesome melody played. The drums are killer, showcasing double bass and sweet rhythms. One of the best metalcore albums I've heard in a while. |

I actually heard this before Kezia so I didn't know how good these guys were before. But this album blew me away. Rody pulls out all the stops and shows why he's a vocalist. I think he's actually one of the best and most versatile today. With the amazing range of his clean vocals, to the high screams, and down to the guttaral lows, the vocals itself keep the album entertaining. The guitars are awesome as well, thrashing around, and playing some weird riffs, makes this album even more interesting. The bass has some awesome fills, seen on Palms Read. The drums have many patterns, which also is great cause it goes with the vocals and guitars. This album is definitely one of the best albums of 2008. |

Red's deubt is both emotional and powerful. The guitars range from acoustic to an awesome grunge and grit sound. The vocals are stellar, with very emotional screaming and even more emotional singing. Songs like Breathe Into Me, Gave It All Away and Let Go, showcase the screaming, while Pieces shows how emotional he can get. The drums make the songs flow nicely. Obviously the Rob Graves picture needs some help, as he wrote almost the entire album, and most people know this. But overall, it's a great album, one to make you bang your head and actually feel something at the same time. |

Red I Flight The Years | 3.5 |
This album is pretty good for i believe their debut. The drums are pounding endlessly and it's awesome. The guitars are pretty sweet, with a ton of heavy riffing, and melody here and there. The bass (i believe it says 5-string in my book) is actually good for hardcore/metalcore. It's audible more often than other bands, and it adds to the heaviness of this album. The vocals, took a few listens to get used to, but he has a pretty sweet scream. He has the high shrieks, and the guttural lows, i love a lot. The best part though, is the cleaner screams, it's really easy to understand and he can do it quite fast. He doesn't do clean singing, but he has some spoken parts which actually helps this album. Overall, pretty good start. |

Still Remains Of Love and Lunacy | 3.5 |
Still Remains The Serpent | 4.5 |
This album is an awesome breakaway from the metalcore stereotype that was Of Love and Lunacy. It was great, sometimes bad, but it was kind of generic. With the Serpent, Still Remains, shows they can make some great music, even though it's not all metalcore. The keyboards are in full effect, which sets the tone. The guitars are nice, playing some sweet riffs and making some melody with the keyboards. The vocals are nice, the scream sounds a little more raw and emotional. And the cleans are well exectued. T.J. and Mike both do an awesome job with the vocals. Some of the best songs I think are: Stay Captive, Anemia In Your Sheets, Dancing With The Enemy, An Undesired Reunion, and Avalanche. Too bad they broke up, I was looking forward to what the would do next. |

Even though this looks like a terrible album, to me it's not that bad. The vocals get really annoying on this album, way more than on Nocturne. And with A.J. out of the picture, the guitar quality has gone down. But that doesn't mean the new one is bad. He can still play and occasionally shred, but it doesn't happen often. But with A.J. gone it seems like their going in a different direction, and I respect that, but they should have tried a lot harder to make it sound better, some songs are good for a short time, but it gets ruined by not-thought-out songwriting. |

I remember when I first heard "Crossing the Rubicon". I didn't really like it, with all the tempo changes, and with the vocals all over the place. But I bought the album actually last year and it's one of my favorite albums. Yes, there's a lot of arpeggios and sweep picking, but I really enjoy that in this album. The vocals are nice, sure they can get nasally and throaty, but it works for this album. It gets melodic, heavy, and then soft, and it just works. The only part that I can say is boring, is how the guitars always do something fancy, and it seems like it's just to keep the song going, when it should be ending. And the vocals can get irritating, but nowhere near as irriating as on their new album Midheaven. All in all, a great start. |
