one of my all time favorite punk albums. The lyrics are a-ma-zing. The music always leaves me breathless and I love every second |

This is pretty much what you expect from RISE records. But everything feels extremely fine tuned, and I love every bit of it. Fantastic vocals, Great guitars. Bass is a little hard to hear but live it's quite good. Not much else to say. It's great at what it does. |

Rivers Cuomo Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo | 2.0 |
the tracks are okay at best, terrible at worst. Sometimes you have to wonder why anyone would bother making this CD. this is no b-sides CD. this CD is essentially just Rivers messing around with music recording. The booklet that comes with the CD saves it from being downright terrible. insight into what was going on in the process of making each track can be very interesting.
The 17th track seems to be rivers and friends discussing exactly what an axe guitar is. It makes you wonder how many kids have had that argument in their life... Sometimes you just assume your favorite artists were born gods. you can really see rivers was a pretty average guy before weezer.
The whole album never goes anywhere and I just can't recommend it unless you absolutely HAVE to hear rivers cuomo's band practice sessions and random recordings he probably found in his garage.
The replayability of the album is terrible. the first few songs have such terrible recordings you just don't really want to listen to them after the first time. hell the first track is just a vocal warm up.
overall, unless you like listening to stuff that never had a chance because it really did suck, then go ahead and by this CD. Otherwise I just suggest sticking with the good ol' blue album and pinkerton. Nothing here will make you think better or worse of rivers, but myself, it feels like he's trying to rip off his fan base by putting out a CD of stuff that really have no redeeming value whatsoever...
Skip this CD. If you're dying to hear it, try borrowing it.
the only standout tracks are "Wanda (You're My Only Love)" and "buddy holly"
