A Slow Descent On Ganymede3.5
A strong first effort from a bright young musician. Flawed, yet deeply atmospheric and haunting. A solid first LP

Never underestimate the power of nostalgia. It can make us look back fondly on times that may not have been so bright, or on things that may not have been all that great, but we love them anyways. But every once in awhile a bit of nostalgia turns out to be just as great as we remember it, maybe even better. Jagged Little Pill fits that description perfectly. I remember hearing many of the songs from this album on the radio when I was very young, probably four or five. I didn't know why, but I loved those songs. Hits like "Oughtta Know" and "Ironic" were great songs to grow with, but now they are even better because I can actually understand them and catch the meanings in them. Listening to this album was like a trip to memory lane, and it was a great trip. Many of these songs I had forgotten completely, until I listened to this album again. It has a few weak songs, this is true. But I can easily overlook this when it has so many other great tracks on it.

Though inconsistent and overlong, Dangerous Women is a fun, high energy album thanks to Grande's beautifully
excellent vocals and enough moments of ingenuity to make this album well worth a listen.

Lou Reed and Metallica Lulu1.0
What garbagethis album is. I mean, c'mon, we have lyrics about cutting legs and tits off while thinking about Boris Karloff, being spermless like a girl and "sucking a colored man's dick" What the hell was Lou Reed thinking? What was Metallica thinking? Of all the projects they could be working on, this was their best option? Hell, I would have settled for St. Angrier, the sequel to St. Anger than have to listen to this crap. Now, I know Lou Reed is dead,so this may sound insensitive, but it really does sound like he is dying on this album. If he was dying, why would he want to make another album? Reed's death is sad, but so is the fact that he took the time to write these lyrics. It is also sad that Metallica decided that this would be a good use of their time and that Lulu would be a good album. Just tragic all around.

Metallica ...And Justice for All3.5
Massive, ambitious and bloated. Metallica's fourth album is a flawed epic featuring lengthy songs and great moments of intensity. It opens and closes with two excellent trash metal songs,"Blackened" and Dyer's Eve." Both are excellent and sustain their intensity quite well. But the rest of the tracks are mixed. ...And Justice for All is a good song but it over stays its welcome. This is the trouble with many other songs, such as "Frayed Ends of Sanity" and "To Live is to Die" Songs like "Shortest Straw" and "Eye of the Beholder" are much better, both are faster and less repetitive. But the star of the album is "One." This song actually starts out quite slowly and melodically, but slowly builds and builds. It evolves into an all out rage fest by the end and features excellent lyrics that grow darker as the song becomes more intense. This album lacks the focus and over all intensity of earlier albums such as "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets" but ...And justice for All is still a very good album. It's ambition and overall intensity help you look past most of it's flaws...usually.

I give you, the most overrated album of all time. A collection of every unpleasant sound mixed together. And Thomas Yorke's incessant whining doesn't help matters either. This album is an insult to the label "alternative rock." Unless you mean it as in "an alternative to rock."

More mature and confident than Blood Sugar Sex Magik and it features their strongest songwriting.Californication also features many beautiful melodic moments and has a more toned down yet more engaging feel. One of the great alternative rock albums of the 90s.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience Are You Experienced5.0
The Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness5.0
Well, for starters this album has some of the greatest songs of the 90's. The hardcore hatred of "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" is then balanced out with the chill calm of "1979." This is essentially a summary of the album itself. It ranges from exciting, fast paced rock to slow, melodic rock. It also might be one of the most ambitious albums ever conceived, up there with Pink Floyd's "The Wall" as one of the longest and greatest concept albums ever. It may not be perfect, but it has great emotional sweep and some incredible musicianship for all to enjoy.
