Trioscapes is a breath of fresh air for both the progressive and jazz fusion scene, but some confusing lapses in stylistic judgment leave it in an uncomfortable position. Songs are built up far too long only to go nowhere - passages exist that shouldn't - Blast Off gets so irritating after a good 3 listens. If the album hadn't have had anything to do with Dan Briggs, then I would easily give it at least a 4. However, since I know that these guys are capable of much better than this, I find myself rather frustrated with Separate Realities.
