| 4.5 superb | Matthew D. French CONTRIBUTOR | July 5th 12 | Simply put: Clockwork Angels is Rush's best album in 30 years. Moreover, it's an album that challenges Rush's heydey material and sees a return to the concept album. Neil Peart, through a loosely tethered narrative, casts a young man pursuing his dreams in a world of chaos and fantastical steampunk themes. I shan't delve too much into it, but know that it's typical Rush (that is to say it's goofy but awesome). The music at hand far overshadows that of Rush's 2007 misfire Snakes & Arrows; it's far more proggy (but doesn't compromise the hooks), focused, and polished. Through a convoluted plot, Clockwork Angels (unsurprisingly) comes full circle in the end, and, beyond its intrinsical narrative, it's very musical. Neil Peart is at the top of his game: his acuity of technicality makes his playing sound second-nature to him -- so unmanufactured and instinctive. Likewise, Geddy Lee's bass playing is masterfully mixed and given more prominence than on previous albums, easily servicing to be a highlight. It may be a little difficult to digest at first, as Rush albums are wont to do, typically being exhaustively long, but it's a ridiculously strong musical statement, and a fine, fine return to form. In fact, I'd like to amend my original statement to this: Clockwork Angels might just be Rush's best album, period.

| 4.0 excellent | Mark Campbell | June 5th 12 | Putting an album out this fucking good almost 50 years into a rock band's career pretty much never happens, but Rush pull it out somehow. They should probably retire after this because it'd be close to impossible to top, and I mean that in the best way.

| 1.0 awful | Terrence von Wright | September 13th 12 | Lol, this year has brought so many great things to the table, why do so many people love this now irrelevant and unnecessary band? The music is insipid to no end and without a shred of the interesting or captivating. 4.3 for lame rehashes and a putrid attempt to modernize former glory (and even THAT is debatable)? Sputnik has no taste in this case.

| 5.0 classic | peacesold | August 14th 12 | rush are back again to rock your world and minds, clockwork angles is the best album come out in a long time. there are many different things of rush that make it good to listen to if you are a music person, one is they dont *** around, two is they dont give a ***, and 3 is they wright good toons, and thats wot maters most of all. also rush is a good band if you like dad rock and progresive passeges, guitar playin delite if and all of it. i get ***in pissed off at fagots who say old music can only be enjoyd by old people, i am 17 years old and i now how to rock you retarts. clockwork angles is a very rocker album and is heavy for the band rush. the open *** song carravan is really driven and hard. the whole album is really good and can be enjoyed by many people on this earth. below i will rate the tracks on wot i think of it.
caravan
starts with noises that i dont like and then proceeds into an amazing *** riff on the ears, a very heavy track on the hole and in total it is a classic. 5/5
BU2B

clockwork angels
once again it starts with weird noise and geddy being gay then we proceed to the riff and the riff is really beef and on the ears makes me think of metal bands, wow this is amasing. are rush a *** metal band, lets listen to the rest of the album befoar asking that you idoit. 5/5
the anarchist
starts with bongo drums played by monkey neil from the necromancer then we are in with the riffs, do the riffs help me rock? yes and that is wot i ask for in rock. the chorus is very good and it reminds me of past years in life. 4.9/5
carnies
this song i can relate to on a person level, i was once a carny and thats where i found my wife helga, she is hot to me wich is what *** maters most to me, and she makes a mean carrot soup. the song its self is very heavy and reminds me of other rush songs. 4.7/5
halo effect
a setimentel song that tugs at the kidney strings, does it hurt to *** love? no, but this song makes sense if it would. a very good song i think and a song that will calm me down when i am pised. this song could be on the radio soon becos its great. 4.8/5
seven cities of gold
another rocker, alex is good here and he shows it he is no afraid. wot i like most is the guitar riff. the drums are very clear to me, they come to my ears with no problems. but i cannot say its bad all in all, YEs he is stop coplain. 5/5
the wreckers
is it on the radio yet? it will be because this song is a great acheivment of rock, the hole of rock can look to this to right a good toon, from the riff to the sound of the boom drums, it makes me rock. 5/5
headlong flight
this is the best song ever and is the best song ever. the song is so heavy and reminds me of a song of caress of steel, maybe the bald one. the bass is loud and hurts my head, which is good becos i like the feeling of hurt with my rock. 5/5

the garden
have rush sold out? no but i thort it at first but its not true, they are just going for signles chart that they can get. this song has violins so it may seem gay on first listen but in fact it is straight as neils face, i like it ok.
4.4/5
everyone should get this album becose its good and it shows real rock. there are many differnt things about it that make it different from the rest of the bands of today, there is *** progresive things and hard rock things, but whether its prog rock, fart rock or just plain rock ***, its great music. if you do deicide to get this album then you are a rocker, if you choose to pass on this album cos you are stupid then so be it, and if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice, bitch.

| 4.5 superb | ThgiBR | June 7th 12 | This is one of the greatest things I have heard in a LONG time! It's good to know that Rush is still a great band after so much time! This album has so many good tracks, it kept me listening to it for 3 times straight! However, don't expect it to be a Farewell To The Kings II, or a Moving Pictures II, or a Hold Your Fire II; this is just another GREAT album by Rush that definetly deserves a listen.

| 3.5 great | Eric Greenman | December 10th 12 | It's pretty impressive when a band in its 70's are rocking out as hard as these guys are. Rush, which is one of the progressive rock greats that needs no introduction, showed us that age doesn't affect their musical ability and writing with their latest release "Clockwork Angels." This album is full of old Rush characteristics like deep song writing, heavy bass and drum driven playing, and of course the ever so distinct vocals of Geddy Lee. While the old characteristics are still there, I just don't feel like this album matches up with their classics in comparison. It is definitely the best album they've released in the last ten years, maybe even twenty, but it lacks the technicality and standout tracks that I look for in a Rush album. Overall, a great release from a band that doesn't lose talent with age, just not one I would call the group's best.

| 4.5 superb | Travis Montgomery | November 28th 12 | The best album from a 46-year old and still touring band I think I've ever heard and probably ever will hear. Perfectly meshing their classic sound with newer sounds and staying relevant even after a long stint of being "another one of those 70's/80's bands that just won't die." Equally recommended for die-hard fans of classic prog as well as the uninitiated looking for a gateway album. 4.3/5

| 4.5 superb | GnFnRs87 | November 1st 12 | One of the band's best albums and another long-awaited classic. After nearly 40 years since their first album they still sound relevant and inventive. Geddy's voice sounds more mature and better for it and of course the masterful instrumentation is still there. Album of the year ? Very, very likely

| 3.0 good | Richard Rusyn | August 20th 12 | I really enjoyed the shit out of this when it first dropped. I was never a Rush fan, but this impressed me. Originally, I would have had this album sit at ALMOST a 4.5, but as time continued its natural progression along with more follow-up listens to this supposed masterpiece, the thing grew tired and I soon was left with the feeling I get from most generic pieces of modern rock that are hailed as magna opera or modest masterpieces...dry and bored. I will probably admit that it was the hype that sucked me into convincing myself that I initially thought this was worth my top 5 of the year, but oh man, I sure was a silly cunt. I don't even like this band! Still a good/fun album tho, despite its lack of depth or innovation, so it gets a nice and solid 3 (relax, fanboys). It's a shiny modern hard rock record (not prog) that is worth a couple of spins and might be decent for a company picnic or something.
