| 5.0 classic | Matt Harrison | May 4th 12 | so far I am really digging the sound that they have progressed to. I don't look at it like they are trying to be like any other their previous albums, but that it is just a natural new direction and I think they do it exceptionally well. I haven't been able to listen to it with the lyrics but I have full faith that Aaron has outdone himself with them again too.

| 4.0 excellent | Vegeta of Nazareth | April 30th 12 | It's like a mixture of A and B if B was a bit more muted as heard on #1. Because #3 was not at all as memorable or youthful as #2, they added C in the name of something called influence and now this album sounds like #4 - either on par, beyond or below your expectations for the band you secretly wish you were a part of but are forced to critique from afar

| 0.0 | Adam Thomas EMERITUS | April 30th 12 | It's not shit but it's not all that good either. I didn't expect much after the kumbaya bullshit of their last album, but at least that one had some cool songs to make the ride through the mediocrity seem almost worth it.

| 4.0 excellent | Ryan Fitz | May 2nd 12 | Melody and mewithoutYou have not been strangers for a long time now, and it should be no surprise that
Aaron sings now and sings a lot. But if one can get past their bias towards mewithoutYou's earlier work, you
would find that the band remains as inventive and engaging as they have ever been. This album is like
getting hugged by an old friend. (Holy shit, ignore that last line. Such sentimentality is revolting.)

| 3.5 great | hesperus | May 16th 12 | It's not A-->B: Life or anything, but at least it's better than Veggie Tales: The Album.

| 4.0 excellent | Archelaos | May 6th 12 | I'm really not understanding the low ratings for this, especially from those who thought that It's All Crazy! It's All False was a bad album but liked the band's earlier works. This is an exciting remould of elements from Catch For Us the Foxes (admittedly one of their least talked about albums (although I don't know why)). Forgetting about "February 1878," Ten Stories is a pop album at first, and then a splash into the post-hardcore chemists' edgier sound. "Grist For The Malady Mill" is the band's best "pop" song to date, and "Fox's Dream of the Log Flume" rivals some of Catch For Us the Foxes' best moments. Highly recommended for those seeking some of the story-telling whimsy of their previous album mixed with elements that we've all come to adore from the band.

| 4.0 excellent | Eric Greenman | November 25th 12 | While the release of "Ten Stories" may not be one of mewithoutYou's best, it still provides a bundle of well written song concepts, along with thought provoking lyrics. Even though it is a concept album, this album is more of ten different small stories that all tie in to one big one. This album is a much more heavy approach than the group's last album, but it also is a bit of a step up in the musicianship department. This album also isn't lacking in standout tracks, with tracks like Fox's Dream of the Log Flume, Grist for the Malady Mill, and the phenomenal closer All Circles. However, this album wasn't all positive. There were an exceeding amount of uninteresting parts in songs, and even just a handful of uninteresting songs all together that became a bit of a downgrade for this album. There were also a few songs that's overall stories really fell behind some of the better tracks of this album as well. Overall, not the best album from this group, but definitely a great release that will easily fall into my favorite albums of the year.

| 4.5 superb | codyliciousss | June 3rd 12 | I figured I would like Ten Stories even with the innate feeling that there would be more of the campfire type singing by Weiss than earlier works. Really well put together, masterful lyricism yet again, spot on. More talking would be nice.

| 2.5 average | ThunderNeutral21 | April 30th 12 | ryeah im not digging the concept or lyrical approach I get 0 from it but everything else is rdone exceptionally well, way way way better than its all crazy. Marries the melodies and rfeel of Catch for Us the Foxes, the variation and delivery of Brother Sister and a small dab rof what few happy folk elements worked on their last album. I still dont fully love their rdirection and choice to make a sappy concept album about a fucking circus train, but it's rpretty gorgeous and incredibly well executed for what it is. It's not exactly consistent, but its overall miles less rgay than their previous record. Its a lot of fun guys, theres rnothing wrong with being cute! its way better than animal collective promise
