Some bands - Metallica, Spinal Tap, Tool - have, with an almost sweet naivete (or a knowing camp, in the Tap's case), used plain black album covers to try and give their music some sort of mystery. Not AC/DC. Who cares about mystery when there's whiskey to be drunk? Who cares about sexual equality when there's groupies to shag? Who cares about 'depth' and 'intelligence' when this is one of the 10 biggest selling albums of all time? And who the hell cares if this album only has one song repeated over and over again? It's fucking RAWK, man!
Ah, AC/DC. They're everything I hate in a band, but you've gotta love 'em.
Though I am tempted to knock off a star for "Have A Drink On Me". That's a pretty fucking stupid song to write just one year after your much-loved singer dies an alcohol-related death.

If one were to make a list of albums that were the most overrated albums of all time, what albums do you think would make the list? Led Zeppelin IV, Master Of Puppets, Appetite For Destruction will probably make the list. And than of course, AC/DC’s “masterpiece” Back In Black will most likely be on this blatant list. There is nothing that special about this album, really. The musicianship is lacking, as the playing is elementary and not polished. It seems as though Angus Young saves the musical aspect of Back In Black with his SG, forking out a few fine guitar riffs and solos. You’ll find many songs that are complete rubbish, such as Givin’ The Dog A Bone, Let Me Put My Love Into You, Have A Drink On Me, etc. As you can tell, AC/DC didn’t cook up a good chemistry of musicians, that’s for sure. The only song that is really coherent is thrown at you at the very beginning of the album, Hells Bells, a tune that showcases a thorough melodic aspect, as well as Young’s guitar technique. So, for the record, Back In Black= Good music, not really. Overrated, yes.

What an album! What can I say about Back In Black? Well.....Pretty F***ing sweet there homeslice! All the songs are awesome, and rocking. If you were to get a copy of an AC/DC record to start off, get this one! Or Highway to hell. Favourite track: Hell's Bell's

This is the album that got me into music and in the long run metal. I owe this album so much m/! Best tracks: Hells Bells, Back in Black, Shoot to Thrill, Let me put my Love into You,You Shook Me All Night Long, Have a Drink on Me, Givin the Dog a Bone, and Rock n' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution. So many classics.

Recorded and released only months after the tragic passing of vocalist Bon Scott, AC/DC unleashed the second of their two magna opera with new vocalist Brian Johnson. What resulted was something nobody thought possible- a classic album even after the death of a vital member. Sure, Brian might not be as truly awesome as Scott but his signature screech fits the bluesy rock n roll boogie to a T. Absolutely essential classic hard rock.

Being one of the best selling and most legendary albums of all time is more than enough reason to purchase this album. However, it's main notary is that AC/DC and Brian Johnson were able to come back from the devastating loss of Bon Scott with an even more powerful album than the last. Not to mention that Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long are amazing anthems which have become a pure definition of AC/DC and the 70's rock n' roll they represent (Irony aside of its '80 release). The difference between Back in Black and Highway to Hell is that this album doesnt have the consistent good filler songs that Highway to Hell had. Particularly Givin the Dog a Bone and What Do You Do For Money Honey are a foreshadowing of Johnson's weak and clichéd lyrics later in the 80's. However, that aside, when the song was good...it was amazing, non-stop rock n' roll.

AC/DC are the embodiment of a band that's easy to love or hate simultaneously. They're incredibly simplistic and their songs begin to blend together within the same album, but they're so fun in such a straightforward way that, if the listener doesn't care for technicality or variety, they should get what they want. Back in Black demonstrates this to the fullest effect, bringing a surprisingly consistent rock and roll vibe to each track without losing focus. While the aforementioned shortcomings do apply, it's not to the point of ruining the songs, let alone the entire album. As a result, it's fun and energetic with little to shake the music world, but if that were the point, we wouldn't have the sound and results present here.

Typical case of an overrated album. The four famously classic tracks are undoubtedly very good, but there isn't much to listen to beyond them. The remaining tracks veer between passable and uninspired, and may not pass muster with a more demanding rock'n'roll fan. If you're looking to get into AC/DC, forget this one and get "Highway To Hell" instead; THAT'S the real classic.

With the exception of "let me put my love into you"... all songs are masterpieces.
When I hear this record I get the impression it's one of those "best off" career celebration albums - packed with hits compiled from multiple records launched over a long period of time. Well... it's not, for ACDC it's just another record. An amazing one, though.

I really just took the rating I gave individual songs; did a quick average in my head. And what brought this album down for me was the third song on the album. It wasn't a bad song. I mean if I hadn't heard the whole album I probably would have given it a three something but I was so disappointed at how mediocre it was I could not stop myself from feeling jipped.

It's not technical and it's not overly original, but AC/DC's Back in Black is still one helluva listen. From beginning to end this album is full of radio classics like "Hells Bells", "Back in Black", and "You Shook Me All Night Long." The vocals of Brian Johnson combined with the simple straightforward guitar work of Angus Young make for an infectious grouping of songs. This album is a good time album, plain and simple. This is undoubtedly the career defining album that AC/DC will be remembered for, and with good reason: it's damn good.

Definitely a gem! One of THE GREATEST AC/DC albums of all time besides Powerage and Highway To Hell. Just awesome! Every song rocks. Back In Black is probably one of my least favorite tracks on this album though...but still great. Have A Drink On Me is an awesome tribute to Bon Scott. Though many think it be under-rated, remember if you lived in 1980, this would be one of the best albums ever...and still is today. This album is under-rated by many!
