most people don't know this, because the album of the same name leaked literally the same day the film came out, but Shinedown wrote the song "The Sound of Madness" after Nolan sent Brad Smith an early workprint cut of the Dark Knight (They're close personal friends). Brad Smith then sent the film to Shinedown vocalist and primary songwriter Brent Smith, who was inspired by the film's antagonist and wrote the song as a homage.
The lyrics may be average at best and the overall quality may have gone backwards, but Amyrillis is still a good listen; the slow songs all have a great happy vibe and the heavy songs are powerful. Cliche and overly mainstream it may be, Amyrillis is still decent.
What made their last album "The Sound of Madness" is all but absent on this new album. If this is what Shinedown is going to become...another puppet for the record companies that makes nothing but crap music, with no originality or really any creativity then....it shows what they really are all about The Money
