well today was an amazing day. walk all the way to dalton, no sleep at all, talk to her. honestly not sure if it helped, made things worst, or keep it the same. honestly not worried about it. about got arrest for sticking up for dustin. he did get arrest. this wasnt his fault!! hahah cop got made when i started agureing and start to win, so he drove off XD what a fat loser :P

It's a personal hatred but I can justify it. It taps into so many annoying pop cliches and runs them through the ironic hipster filter. The music has way too much crammed into it in an attempt to be artsy and the lyrics fail completely at telling an interesting stories. I do not like this album.

Where the debut was heartfelt and immature, this was over-produced, stale, and nearly formulaic. The letdown I feel listening to this has made me re-evaluate the debut and question what drew me to the band in the first place. Buy the debut, burn everything else. 1.8/5

Unbelievably insipid hipster pop that sounds more like Coldplay than it does Queen. Where do these Queen comparisons keep coming from anyway? This band is so lacking in texture, redeeming melodies and actual songwriting. rIt's depressing that what passes as the next Queen nowadays is sub-par, annoying, overrated tripe

I've been listening to this for about half a year now, and forgot to rate this. It's definitely a really unique album. Each song (for the most part) contrasts from each other. The general sound though is very "love it, hate it, or shrug it off." If you love it, you'll love it. If you hate it, you obviously won't listen to it. If you 'shrug it off', you'll just kind of thing it's average music for todays apparent 'mainstream indie' scene. Composition wise: the guys know what they're doing. Instrumentally: interesting. Vocally: love it or hate it. Production wise: brilliant. What defines this album though are the unique ideas in the intro, the title track, "All Alright", "One Foot", "Why Am I The One", and "Stars."

Some Nights, for me; can be marked down as the worst album Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost or Jack Antonoff have ever worked on. It's not that Some Nights is all bad, it has good songs and great moments but I'm left wondering how a band could possibly fail so much to appreciate what made their previous work so good and why they'd surface their music so much to the point it felt weak and unoriginal.

This album had so much potential. Upon listening, from 'Some Nights (Intro)' to 'Carry On', I was hooked. I was sure that this LP would be every bit as complex as Aim & Ignite (their debut) was. It wasn't.rfun. is an incredible band with a lot of talent who know how to write lyrics and be original. However, their misstep with this record was going for that hip-hop sound, the huge drums, huge production. rIt works well, at first. 'Some Nights (Intro)' sounds like old fun., and like something out of a musical. 'Some Nights' almost sounds like something from the Lion King, 'We Are Young' is full of epic bombast, 'Carry On' gets slower while still being fun. rThen 'It Gets Better hits'...and 'Why Am I the One' and 'All Alone' and 'All Alright' and 'One Foot'...they all start to blend together with how they all sound like generic midtempo pop covered by a talented group. It's not *bad*, it's just...less than fun. is capable of.rThen the album closes with 'Stars'. Another slow one, but this one with more twinkles and...autotune. Contrary to what you think I'm about to say, it was brilliant. After the last five tracks, experimentation is exactly what was needed and it works out beautifully.rAll-in all, really, the album is worth a listen, if only for tracks 1-4 and 10.
