The choice of singles was poor, leaving huge expectations that were nearly impossible to
meet. But Weather Systems is still a brilliant follow up to WHBWH, and a lighter listen
overall. Untouchable Part 1&2, Sunlight and the Beginning and the End are highlights for me.

Anathema is a relentless factory of brilliance. This album is no exception: the vibe is amazingly different from their past efforts, the progression this guys have is clear, and it's the progression of every human-being who went from darkness to light. Will be remembered as one their greatest efforts in years to come.

Most of the tracks follow the same recipe. There is one track though that is mind blowing, 'The storm before the calm'. Wish the whole album was as good as this one

I think the reviewer nailed it. Although I do wonder, given his valid criticisms, why he's rated the album as "Excellent." Everything here is monumentalized, bigger production, soaring vocal passages that at times soar perhaps a bit too high. "We're Here Because We're Here" had somewhat more of a rock edge, and I personally miss that element. I hear the experience of making "Falling Deeper" in this album.

Agreed with this album's review; the disc is a pretty record, with beautiful changes and melodies throughout, but it feels like it's lacking that substance from its predecessor. It's pretty clear by this point what direction Anathema is heading in, and they really do wear this style well. A much more emotional record this time out, Weather Systems may drive off some fans of the band who have been waning since the last few records, but any listeners who's a fan of the change in sound should eat this record up.

not their best, not their worst. they really impress on a bunch of these tracks but the insipid lyrics kind of kill it and on occasion make it come across as very contrived. i think we're here because we're here is the superior album because they still relied in their strengths as a band, and here they rely a little too much on the orchestra and female vocals. neither of which are bad, i just thought they were a lot better when they were more subtle. nonetheless, a great album, it just makes me hope they change directions again. :]
