this band in general has never really had more than a few standout tracks for me. however this is the most interesting and engaging material i've heard from them. won't hear me complain as this is the definition of short and sweet.

I would be harsher on this due to being basically a long EP however I think that's what makes "Eclipse" work. It's short enough that you don't get bored or annoyed by some of the poly rhythmic parts. However it stills enough meat in most songs to justify being an individual song. Almost on the same level of Born Of Osiris' first album. I would say if anything this feels like a step towards something bigger much the same as co-labels "The Discovery" album. rJust my .02

If The Common Man's Collapse was essentially a grizzly bear augmented by terror, then Eclipse is more like a zombified ferret blinded by the presence of Osiris. Veil of Maya's latest studio album's primary drawback is its disappointingly short length at 28 minutes, which is a crying shame considering how far the members have come over the years. The production quality is also a bit hit-and-miss, though don't be too astonished if your name happens to be Misha Mansoor. In spite of its few issues, however, Eclipse is a widely thrilling release featuring some of Brandon Butler's best growls topped with djent-inspired riffs and a balanced sense of drumming work.

I had heard a little from Veil of Maya and a lotta hype about them, but Eclipse convinced me to become a fan. There were a few songs I have heard before it, but nothing sounds as complete as Eclipse does. From the beginning "20/200" VOM let the listener know that they are in for a real treat. A very cohesive album that is well constructed and executed, it has become one of my favorites of 2012 so far. The fact that is a short album (only 10 songs) is actually a good idea, because nobody wants to sit through an hour of pretty much the same stuff. My favorite song is "Winter Is Coming Soon". I almost wanted to say "Vicious Circles" due just to the badass breakdown they thorw in toward the end. A fan of any type of metal should pick up a copy and at least give it a chance. Odds are they will not be dissappointed.

I rarely listen to deathcore; the dissonant chords are too droning for me, the vocals are usually too harsh and too messy, and I've yet to find a brilliantly produced deathcore album. I don't even know if Veil of Maya is considered deathcore, but this album says everything good about the genre. Beautiful transitions, drumming, guitar work, and an incredibly fun and experimental album. Diggin' it.

First cd i have bought in a good while, (last one i think was Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues). A bit on the short side, but hits hard without the filler. Less chugging and focus on melodic and memorable riffs, along with a special little sample in "Punisher" make this an awesome addition to an impressive discography. Yes, i enjoyed [iD].

Ugh. I'm sorry. I want to like this band, but they simply have no identity. If it weren't for them being in with other popular djent bands, I doubt many people would think much of this band at all. At least Periphery and Born of Osiris have unique characteristics... this is just run-of-the-mill Meshuggah worship.

Suffering from mundane pacing, average rhythms, lack of energy and a very short time length for a full album, Veil of Maya have put forth an effort that triumphs over their previous work, but doesn't bring enough to the table to be considered a success or be as enjoyable as it could be.
