This album is like a random hookup, fun in the moment but you feel like shit afterwards for listening to it. This band knows how to write a good hook though, I just wish the Dave Grohl look-alike would stop singing. Recommended Songs: Trip the Darkness, Against You, End of Time
While the inclusion of some darker and heavier moments might please a few of those who jumped ship following the release of Shallow Life, the majority of this album follows a similar enough direction to likely only retain the newfound fanbase and keep those older fans content to stay where they are. To the band's credit, Dark Adrenaline is a well-polished alternative metal record containing a number of potential hit singles. Aside from the laughable "End of Time", Lacuna Coil seems to have gotten a better handle on just what sort of commercialized sounds can work best as a template for their music. The most interesting thing here is their discovery that R.E.M. wrote better songs than Depeche Mode, but ultimately their decisions both to alter "Losing My Religion"'s esteemed melodies and to allow Andrea Ferro to sing its chorus exemplify everything that is wrong with the band.
Dark Adrenaline is the first album by Lacuna Coil I've listened to all the way through, and I have to say I was not dissappointed. It has many catchy songs that are very well written both musically and lyrically. Upside Down is one of my favorites due primarilly to the very catchy chorus which is thanks to great vocals by the chick (whose name I don't know). Dark Adrenaline is one of those records that I could listen to a few times over again. The value and importance of replayability is one thing that some artists tend to forget sometimes. Obviously LC did not as they made a very good record that can be enjoyed over and over again.
