this ?Metananoir? by the French Dale Cooper Quartet & The Dictaphones is suitable for fans of the shoegaze music by bands like The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble or founder of Dark Doom Jazz Borhen Und The Club Of Gore. Also if you are into blue smoke filled dark bars listening to easy peasy dark jazz, this CD is for you. But this album is not for every one and may bore the average listener so i can not rate this album very highly.
Dale Cooper Quartet and the Dictaphones take their hazy, barely there interpretation of Jazz to bleak, subterranean levels. Like Bohren & Der Club of Gore this is experimental music with a pulse, the aching drones explicitly scoring the haunted majesty of dusk in downtown wherever. The album plays at a lucid tempo, where slowly drifting tones of repressed Jazz instrumentation prove that ultimately, there is beauty in sadness.
