While this is WAY better than Sunn O))), I guess drone just isn't for me. I can enjoy a s**t-ton of post-metal, and I can definitely tell where all the love for this album comes from, but I just don't have the kind of brain to call this "the pinnacle of all that is music). 3.8/5

This is a classic within the stoner rock genre. It successfully manages to combine doom, stoner, and sludge metal into one. Standout cuts like "Funeralopolis" and the title track give Dopethrone its epic feel. The songs typically start out slow and somehow increase their intensity; it manages to creep up on you at some points.

The only album I have heard from these guys, and this is sheer proof that drugs might actually be a good thing. This has some of the best riffs I've heard in a long while (and I've taken a listen to High on Fire). Whisky, mary jane, that one metal chick you'd love to bang until she's all worn out, and BALLS in a nice manly and trippy experience.

This is the album that actually got me into doom. After that I started getting into the genre, and the whole thing that could compare to Dopethrone to me was another EW release, Come My Fanatics, but that just couldn't match Dopethrone. None have so far.
