This is simply an amazing punk rock album. Though it was a shame that shortly after OP IV broke up  anyway I'm still a fan of Rancid, who may have lost a little of that energy that Operation Ivy had but they still rock. Matt Freeman is AWESOME!!!

A wild, thoroughly enjoyable dose of punk that unfortunately grows tedious after a while and grows boring with multiple listens. Some songs are fantastic but the majority of it is just a cut above the average punk song we have all heard a trillion and one times.

This album collects a good amount of the music put out by Operation Ivy in the short time they were together. This band is one of the most amazing you will ever hear. They mix fast punk rock, high-energy uptempo ska, and searingly insightful lyrics. The songs are short and memorable. Every one is a classic.rThe album has one of the best opening songs of all-time and one of my favorite Op Ivy songs: "Knowledge". An explosion of fast punk and howling vocals, with Jesse offering "all I know is that I don't know nothing" on the chorus. From then on, every song is great, from the brilliant ska of "Sound Sytem" to the reggae-styled "Take Warning" to the massively influential musically and lyrically "Unity".rTo close, there is NO reason why anyone should be without this CD.

Firstly, I'll go ahead and say that this band was the best in it's class and it's time. Ska-punk would've been nothing without Operation Ivy. The world of punk wouldn't have been the same without a band like Operation Ivy.
Now, this album features all a punk listener would ever want: energy, which is the title of the album. Once you pop this CD in whatever player you have, the first thing you hear is an explosion of energy with the first track "Knowledge". Second track is the belle of the ball, "Sound System", a track with a ska beat so tight you'll be listening to the song 100 times and still be digging it.
Now this is just the beginning, but enough of the "walkthrough" for the album. After a while you'll come across songs like "Unity" with a ska beat that's nice and mellow and lyrics that mean just what the name of the track states. You'll then come across two instrumental tracks, "Bankshot", with a beat that'll have you skankin' for a while, and "One Of These Days", which is a "cover" of Nancy Sinatra's song "These Boots Are Made For Walking" ."Here we go again" is another standout which I just can barely explain the greatness of the song.
To finalize this, this album should be considered by everyone in the punk community and everyone in the ska community. Even though they lasted two years, they made the most of their short life. No track in this album is bad. They are all good, only difference is that some are just orgasmic.

An absolute classic of the ska+punk genre. It has real punk rock feel to it as opposed to all of their followers. And the ska of this band is a blueprint of all the bands who where the future of this genre. The lyrics are even quite intelligent for a bunch of punk rock kids. From the raw punk to some of the best ska around this album delivers it all.
