I'm sometimes tempted to call Blood On The Tracks the ultimate divorce album. Unfortunately, when Rumors exists, that simply isn't true. Propelled by not one, but TWO major break-ups within the group, Fleetwood Mac decided to lay their emotions bare on record. Hence the deranged "Second Hand News" (brutal self-deprecating honesty never sounded so much like denial, and denial never sounded so transparent), the absolutely withering "Dreams", the defiant, painful "Go Your Own Way", and the detatched "The Chain". Still, there was room for hope - "Songbird", "Don't Stop", and "You Make Lovin' Fun" were the group's real catharsis, forcing light to appear through the clouds. 18 millions of us became marital voyeurs, making Rumors one of the biggest albums of all time, and embedding these songs into public consciousness. Good job, then, that these songs are indestructible - not even Coors cover versions can dent their emotional power.

Fleetwood Mac's rumours can only be described with one seven letter word "Classic"
The music is consistent from song to song, not one filler track to be found. From beautifuly soft love ballads to the inspiring "go your own way"
If I were to pick an album to represent my life it would have to be this one.

When I began to listen to this record for the very first time, I was so certain that it would collapse under the hyperbolic acclaim it garners and fall below my expectations. However, the more I listened to it, the better it got. Every single song is at least great and the track placement couldn't be more perfect. Also contributing to the record's quality is the fact that the Nicks/Buckingham and McVie/McVie/Fleetwood (the former are from America and the latter from Britain) groups somehow perfectly melded their drastically different styles together into a cohesive whole. Thus, you get a great mix of folk rock, soft rock, hard rock, blues, pop, and multiple other styles. And then there's the lyrical content, primarily inspired by the band's relationship tensions reaching their boiling points. This leads to some very bitter banter between band members over the course of multiple tracks, but the silver linings ensure that things aren't all negative and that the band had the strength to pull through despite their differences. Overall, Rumours is an album of the highest quality. If I could give it a 50/5, I would without hesitation. One of my Top 5 favorite albums for sure.

While there are forgettable songs, it's easy to see why this is regarded so greatly. A great blend of rock, country and blues making for easy and enjoyable listening. Dreams, Go Your Own Way, Songbird, The Chain & Oh Daddy are recommended listens.

Just an obvious classic. This is the album, for FWM, that influenced countless artists and music as a whole. This album is basically their greatest hits without the title of greatest hits. This is the album that, when talking about or listening to Fleetwood Mac, one turns to as a reference point.

Songwriting when breaking up from a loved one is powerful songwriting.

In my opinion, one of the most interesting albums of the 70's. John McVie is an overlooked bassist, and the guitar work of Lindsey Buckingham rules as well. Not to mention the vocal skills of the McVie-Nicks duo.
|5.0 classic||Caleb C | January 21st 13|
This is the closest thing to a flawless album that I have heard. The relationships amongst some of Fleetwood Mac's members were in complete turmoil at the time, and all the emotion, desperation, honesty and hope was laid on the table. Nearly every song is gold.

One of the greatest albums released in the 70's. Timeless music.

Just love this album, no song on here will ever get old. Stevie...

My opinion might change for this album and then me giving it a 5 for probably being one of the greatest records of the 70's and maybe even of all time. The gutiar picking is excellent, the songs have an great drum rhythem groove to them, the songs are catchy. This has a lot going for it and it is the top recommended album in my and the rest of the world's opinion for the best break up record to get you through those tough times.

Best pop/rock album ever. It's catchy, emotional, well-executed--as close to perfect as an album can really be.
|5.0 classic||GnFnRs87 | November 8th 11|
Quite possibly one of the most perfect and heart-wrenching albums of all time. Due to the band's relationships falling apart their are a lot of bitter and heartbroken moments on this album, including Stevie's brilliant 'Dreams' and Lindsey's 'Go Your Own Way'.

You know an album must be truly great when it can be played over and over again for decades, and, more than a generation later, it is still wildly popular. This album has stood the test of time, and will continue to do so.
|5.0 classic||Quadrochosis | June 22nd 11|
I'd be hard pressed to find any records that are as legendary as this one. There is not one song on here that I would say is less than god-tier.
|5.0 classic||David James Young | May 20th 09|
An essential listen for pop and rock fans of every generation. If you have ever experienced the demise of a relationship, then there is plenty on this album to connect with - from the female perspective (Stevie Nicks), the gorgeous "Dreams"; from the male perspective (Lindsey Buckingham), the anthemic "Go Your Own Way" - to just give two examples. Brilliantly produced and masterfully created in a time of great tension between band members, Rumours may just be the best thing you'll find in your parent's music collection.

Inner band turmoil, divorces left and right, Fleetwood's misery & marital issues sure as hell birthed some fantastic music in the process of ruining some lives. 'The Chain', 'Go Your Own Way', 'You Make Loving Fun', 'Dreams' are just the highlights on an album that is really quite near flawless. I've had this album with me for a very, very long time & it's at least one of my favorites, if not my favorite. Fun, inventive, brooding, at times extremely heart breaking, all the while remaining completely badass.

There is not a whole lot that can be said about this album that hasn't already. People should check this album out, no questions asked. The turmoil that the band underwent during the recording and writing of this album allowed them to write some of the most inspired songs ever. Go Your Own Way and The Chain are the most powerful songs on the album, with two of the most memorable choruses ever. Don't Stop and Dreams keep the radio hooks going while both containing a positive outlook on the band's future, while Oh Daddy pays tribute to the man who held the band together. The flow of this album is perfect and contains some of the greatest songs ever, which of course, makes it one of the greatest albums ever.

The GREATEST pop record ever recorded. This album is so packd full with hits its hard to beieve one band could have laid it all down at once. Second Hand News kicks this off nicely, but when you have Dreams, Dont Stop, the emotionally powerful Go Your Own Way and the sublime The Chain the opener hardly counts for nought. Broke into my Top 10 favs on my first listen. Cannot be recommended enough.

This album is full of classic hits, and songs that leave you wanting more. I cherish this album, and I sing each song aloud. I don't see how anybody can turn away this album; it is one of the best out there.
|4.0 excellent||Amanda Murray STAFF | June 24th 06|
What's so amazing about this record may not even be the music but the fact that it was even completed, considering all the intraband tension at the time. But as history indicates, friction often leads to some of the best music ever produced. Case in point? Rumours.
