| 4.0 excellent | MisterTornado CONTRIBUTOR | October 5th 11 | In many ways, Looping State of Mind is the unintentional dance pop sequel to Gas' Pop. That album was released a decade ago, and remains one of the most intriguing ambient albums ever recorded. The way it used lush, fragmented loops of deep sonics and almost subconscious drones is astounding. Its subtle incorporation of nature samples, which often times is difficult to decipher whether or not it's coming from your own backyard, created the ultimate effect of entranced disillusion. The Field's Looping State of Mind is similar, in that repetition is key, though replace the deeper low-ends and nature samples of Pop with thicker beats and subtle vocals samples. Looping State of Mind is the kind of dance album that's bound to be a rewarding listen each time, as subtle complexities and woven grooves are distinguished. It's also what real trance music should sound like, not that it fits the genre, but the very definition of the word. Get lost in the looping state of mind.

| 0.0 | Lewis P. STAFF | February 14th 12 | If my listening habits in 2011 showed a unity between genre-bending and an appeal for life to occupy negative space (because at this point, as far as I'm concerned, we are forever receding, facing backwards, confusing progression), then take 'Looping State of Mind' as its inverse, the flip-side of a whole 'nother coin whose own flip-side is revealed in a continuous upending: both sides are of the same head; ambient music employed with the fervor of a discotheque; 'From Here We Go Sublime' as a microcosm breaching the celestial aspirations of 'Yesterday and Today'; all these notions exasperated into submission so that we, ever the receptive audience, consider it a blend (something "comfortable," to "wrap yourself in like a warm blanket") when in actuality The Field (one Axel Willner) is actively engaging The Audience on a whole 'nother level, where the only way 'Looping State of Mind' achieves its status as 2011's "other" hot pop commodity is because we are forced, through a looping state of the sublime, to think of it as such. Hypnosis ~ Orgasm.

| 4.0 excellent | mcfly | January 19th 12 | I don't remember how I found out about this guy, but I'm glad I did. I had this album on repeat for a good while last year. I think I like listening to this all the way through as opposed to FHWGS, which I like a lot, but I rather skip through.

| 3.0 good | monstor344 | October 26th 11 | This album is their catchiest, but From Here We Go Sublime is their most memorable, if that makes any sense...
