ok this is fucking incredible, black orchid is one of my songs of the year so far. this manages to sound familiar and is extremely accessible, but it never sounds contrived, changing things up exactly when he needs to and varying the music without letting it detract from the album's overall scope. a lot of meaningless pretentious words but this is probably my aoty so far and idk if that means much but holy fuck. ri had this as a 3.5 before too fuck yall keep listening to it

A haunting record, whose NES-like synths manage to make their cheesiness actually melancholic. The whole album seems drowned in a futuristic sadness, dubstep and future garage fighting over who get the last word.

A fine platter of hors d'oeuvre for fans of the UK "bass" scene. By limiting himself to around two minutes for
the majority of the album, Zomby deftly avoids the ennui that can set in when listening to many other dance
music full lengths.
The album begins with a claustrophobic minimal construction that expands through the Animal Collective-
esque vocal of Things Fall Apart to the more widescreen pianos of Haunted and Basquiat.
The ever-shifting pace, evocative of ambling from room to room in a club, only serves to heighten the
emotional impact of the longer tracks such as Natalia's Song, probably the most emotional electronic track
this side of Untrue.
And just when you start wondering about where the next track will go, the album is done. A superb album
from an extraordinary producer.

Zomby continues to be a critical darling despite his infuriating tendency to not fully flesh out any of his interesting ideas. And that's exactly what you get with "Dedication" - a cache of good ideas, almost none of which come to any sort of conclusion. The transitions are painfully under thought, the track lengths are almost uniformly brief, and the atmosphere this release conjures is more thoroughly felt in other bass music releases from this year (Kode9 & The Spaceape's "Black Sun" for one).

Found a different review that says how I feel about it

nuts about him. You can tell he knows exactly what he's doing, but he was far too careful to
really make anything amazing; I hope he'll actually experiment more in the future. The intro
to "Things Fall Apart" makes me love it best
