| 4.5 superb | Quadrochosis | June 14th 11 | This has been one of my most anticipated releases of 2011. After finally hearing it, I can say it was well worth the wait. Out of the 36 songs, at least 30 of them are better than "Above Average", with the other 6 or so being at least "Good". The entire compilation, it's packaging, and the concept behind it all help to make it one of the best releases of 2011, as well as the best release from The Dear Hunter we've seen yet. Kudos to Casey and the rest of the band for creating such a superb work of art!

| 4.0 excellent | Alexander | June 15th 11 | In the aftermath of Thrice's The Alchemy Index, Jon Foreman Seasons, and Mae's Morning/Afternoon/Evening. Crescenzo under his monkier The Dear Hunter take on what is currently one of the most overblown concept album/projects to date with The Color Spectrum. Overall, Crescenzo's attempt to "interpret" some of these colors are a bit ambiguous but there is absolutely no doubt the Complete Color Spectrum showcases his ability to craft a variety of different moods and feelings through the nine EP's. In a sense, just about everything you listen to here isn't really groundbreaking new-but his ability create a diverse range of solid songs make The Color Spectrum a worthwhile project to sink your teeth into days upon days.

| 5.0 classic | Isaacbean | June 17th 11 | This is so much more than music. This is so much more than a "work of art". This is just beyond words. The shear production if this masterpiece is enough to astound anyone. The lyrics are (I believe) the best lyrics this band has ever done. Each EP is it's own album; it's own story. The themes within each song are portrayed so well to any listener. This project also proves that we all have that attention span that has been stereotyped as being whittled away. Truly a masterpiece worth of being awarded as a classic.

| 4.5 superb | SowingSeason STAFF | June 15th 11 | The Color Spectrum may not be perfectly executed from a conceptual perspective, but you have to hand it to The Dear Hunter for trying because they end up making one hell of a rock album in the process. In fact, The Color Spectrum may be most appreciated when listened to as nothing more than that; or perhaps when observed as nine individual EPs instead of one cohesive work. Either way, it is difficult to find flaws damning enough to consider this anything other than one of 2011?s premier releases in alternative rock. It is simply too grand - too overwhelmingly impressive in its scope ? not to be enjoyed by fans of all genres. The Dear Hunter present to us their crowning achievement to date; enjoy it.

| 5.0 classic | jasonslfl | June 14th 11 | In all honesty, my expectations for this release weren't very high. It seemed a bit too ambitious, and I wasn't convinced that The Dear Hunter could pull off creating 36 songs worth of interesting material. Having just listened to the entire compilation, I take back every doubt that I had. This is by and far the best Dear Hunter release to date in my opinion, and I'm on the verge of saying it's better than Between The Heart And The Synapse, which is one of my favorite albums of all time. Hats off to you Casey Crescenzo and other fellows.

| 2.0 poor | PerpetualChange | March 14th 12 | I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I really feel like this is a project full of half-assed arrangements and quickly written songs. The Acts are great, but I just can't get as excited about this album as others seem to be.

| 4.0 excellent | Foursmallhats | June 22nd 11 | It'll probably take all year for me to really wrap my head around this 2 1/2 hours of music, but judging by how varied and all-encompassing this is, I can't imagine it being anything lower than a 4. For anyone.

However, now your next task is locating exactly what music niche you want to master, for all of this is fantastic but nothing just blows my mind like I so desperately want it to. Get to it, you musical slave you!

Bump |
| 4.5 superb | Kubrick | January 11th 12 | A mammoth release of nine 4-track EPs, each one dedicated to a specific color of the rainbow (including one for black and white). This collection makes its claim for excellence just through shear consistency. Not only does every color have its own incredibly distinct sound and instrumental style (except possibly orange and red), they are all good. Really good. The tracks on here basically range from quality to superb, which is unbelievable considering the amount of experimentation and diversity on display. This variation also makes the album an absolute joy to listen to on shuffle. You're always hearing something different from the folky, acoustic "Green" to the sugary, fun-loving "Yellow" to the aggressive, industrial "Black" to the woozy, understated "Blue" to the trippy, electronic "Indigo." It's really a marvel to hear a band traverse so many different styles and pull them all off with such poise and creativity.

| 5.0 classic | DoodVogeltje | December 4th 11 | It's very hard to compose 36 excellent songs, but The Dear Hunter's done a remarkable job with The Color Spectrum. There are a lot of songs that stand out, but the ones that don't aren't necessarily bad. That's what makes this album a true blast!

| 4.5 superb | NeutralThunder12 | September 5th 11 | Despite the fact that the Red EP falls flat for me, the rest of this collection has pretty much showed me that Casey Creszenco is the best, and most varied songwriter in modern music. How you make 9 EP's, all showcasing recreations of different musical styles work so consistently is utterly astounding. Black and Indigo both explore the dark and light elements of electronica while Orange recreates 70's blues brilliantly by channeling both Hendrix and The Doors to create a familiar, yet somehow unique take on such a classic genre. Yellow is a tribute to cute yet sophisticated pop of the late 60's in vein of bands such as The Beatles and The Who, while Green is a stunning look at alternative indie/folk. I could go on and on about how well Casey has handled recreating these genres while still offering more familiar Dear Hunter sounds such as those found on Violet and White, while slapping his signature vocal melodies and introspective lyrics upon every song on here. Only a few moments fall flat, yet its barely noticeable on one of the most consistent, diverse and fun releases I've ever heard. It deserves all the attention and praise it has received, hands down.

| 5.0 classic | ncWOLFsu | June 20th 11 | This is an absolutely fantastic collection of music. I agree with the sentiment that there
is definitely at least one EP on here for everyone. This fact is very evident when
considering the diversity in what people have identified as their favorite colors. I hope it
stays this highly rated. Casey and The Dear Hunter deserve more recognition for their
talents, and I hope The Color Spectrum is the release that makes that happen for them.

| 5.0 classic | Megatron | June 15th 11 | It has to be rated "classic."rReason being an artist just got #19 yesterday in MP3 downloads on Amazon for picking up instruments and singing. That alone is amazing in today's music industry. Almost beat out Britney!rIn all seriousness, this release is great. It is so spot on in defining the colors in sound and casey has written some of the most beautiful melodies ever written. Seriously, stream it first if you don't believe me.
