"Great Faith In Fools" could have been something awesome if the band didn't shoot themselves in rthe foot multiple times per song with what sounds like the same breakdown played at varying speed.

The Air I Breathe is definitely one of Rise Records' better new bands. Unlike so many bands on the label roster that just refuse to leave the first fret, these guys shred all over the fretboard. Just listen to "Take This To Heart" or "The Awakening," you can't deny that these guys can write some interesting parts. It's just too bad that these moments of sheer brilliance are far too interspersed with repetitive breakdowns reminiscent of Miss May I. Some parts, like in "The Awakening" will make you think of Born Of Osiris. The cleans, when used, sound a tad forced, by either the band or the label. The vocals are very raspy and harsh, which contrast perfectly with the buttery smooth guitar leads. What I like the most about The Air I Breathe is how they can blend technicality into rather catchy, memorable songs, unlike other bands such as Within The Ruins that feel content to meedle all day. The production is very slick and clear, thanks to Joey Sturgis. The only real downside to this album is the amount of filler. For every track that amazes, there is one that disappoints and bores.

comparable with for the fallen dreams', better than eyes have seen the glory's but slightly worse than altars' new record. overall a nice piece of generic metalcore/moshcore.

This album would be in line for a far more favourable rating if it didn't have half as many breakdowns as it does. Some really tight musicianship throughout.

Here is an album that breaks down, and it does it in a way you can either love or hate. Pretty heavy stuff here, and a few of the tracks have really catchy choruses, but as breakdown riddled as it is it's actually a lot more enjoyable as one may think and that's why one listen in I'm enjoying this as much as I am.

I've been anticipating this album about as long as I've been waiting for the new The Plot In You, I was curious to see which I enjoyed more... I can honestly say this slightly surpasses TPIY, vocals are crazy, nice guitar work, rhythmic drums, audible bass, and a healthy serving of breakdowns. Interesting lyrics as well. Love it!
