Just as Queensryche was taking steps in the right direction with 'American Soldier', they decided to release a complete shitter of an album. Uninspired, and complete with several cringeworthy moments, including the single "Wot We Do" and 'Around the World", 'Dedicated to Chaos' shows us wot not to do when making an album.
They made the mistake of giving us some hope with American Soldier, but this is just right back where they started but even worse because alot of fans were expecting so much more.
I give this 2 instead of 1.5 or a 1 just because "hotspot" junkie made me laugh uncontrollabley at th cheesyness and failed attempts of this band to sound modern. They do sound modern however to their "core" fanbase who lives in the eighties without internet, but anyhow the worst part of this for me were the dull as nail vocals that never fit in anywhere on this album. Id rather have a band release replicas of earlier albums than do what these guys did and utterly embarass themselves trying to be "cutting edge" The songs did provide a good laugh though at least, that was the best part.
There are a couple of good tracks on here ('Retail Therapy' is my favorite), but the rest of the album is simply "blah." Lilke a bad wine, Queensryche hasn't gotten better with age.
A dull and uninspired album from Queensryche with awful lyrics and soulless music. Such a shame as American Solider was a decent album, and a defininite step in the right direction, but I guess that was just a fluke now. Give it up, Queensryche.
