I thought I had heard the angriest record yet with Dillinger's "Miss Machine" and Converge's "Jane Doe," but nothing could of prepared me for the pure, unbridled venom spat forth by JR Hayes on "Terrifyer." Often being overshadowed by "Prowler in the Yard" and the slicker "Phantom Limb," "Terrifyer" cemented the fact that Pig Destroyer not only write angry music, but angry music with catchy riffs, RIDICULOUS drumming, and perversely poetic lyrics. All in all, a complete knockout, and one that will keep you coming for more and more.
Pig Destroyer creates the album of their career and perhaps the grind album of the 00-10 decade. Every track presents brutality infused with sludgy, classic rock riffs that work hand in hand to form a truly classic metal record. The well-written and never too dark lyrics make the listener think intensely without being outright offended (at least, I wasn't). Near-perfect.
