I understand why many wouldn't like Build A Rocket Boys! or Elbow in general. To be frank, Elbow is not a Sputnik-esque band, at least not in the way The National have become, particularly this decade. This is a bit ironic to me because I see a lot of similarities between the two bands: Dadcore, and of the highest degree. Subtle, not engaging, and what many would call boring, I guess. But give it time -- and maybe have a kid or two -- and this will consume your listening playlists. And yes, Guy Garvey does have a hell of a nice voice and writes killer lyrics to boot.

Garvey has a lovely voice, but Build A Rocket Boys! is all shiny textures and pleasant listening and altogether very, very boring.

Wasn't sure they could top The Seldom Seen Kid. Still not sure, but they've made another incredible record here, one which further reveals itself with every new listen. Well done lads!
