Something that Trey mentioned in the review early on really stuck out to me when I finally bought this album. It's sound can only be described as huge, sprawling, epic, and beautifully dystopian. To get what I'm saying, try this: listen to Marianas Trench by August Burns Red or the Sound of Truth by AILD, or at least the opening. Then listen to Empire or New Aurora. the difference is mind blowing, not because ABR suck as musicians (they don't) but because there is so much more going on underneath the main thrust in the case of AVL. The subdivided, off-beat, lightning speed snare riffs are incredibly fun, as is the military precision double-bass, and the way the two play into one another. But listen to the underlying guitar bits, the way the sound shift doesn't feel the slightest bit forced, even when it goes from hell-bent anvil crushing to piano. I'm usually a verse-chorus, melody-heavy kinda rock/punk fan. but this... these guys are doing what Underoath wishes they could do. Maybe a good way to describe this is Periphery but better and without making the studio effects the primary means of delivery. I dunno. But what i do know is that I thought I was growing out of my metal phase. I wasn't. I was just tired of the same boring, forced shit and hadn't heard this.

I don't see what all the hype is about. This is just some above average hardcore that is pretty awesome the 10% of the album that it's actually taking place. The rest is just minutes at a time of empty space and some very uninteresting clean vocals. It's just not for me.

Ug, The Long Procession is really, really good. Amia Venera Landscape put work by similar contemporaries Devil Sold His Soul and Rinoa to shame rather easily. But here's the thing that sucks: it's too fucking long. The band uses up all of its ideas by the time "Marasm" is in the midst of escalating to the heavens. It's frustrating. Just cut the fat next time, and they'll have an easy metalcore-atmospheric sludge-post-hardcore-whatever classic on their hands.

Amia venera components live 10 kms from my town, so i should promote them, but i'm sincere, for me the long procession has good but also negative aspects. One of that is not to sing in their original language

Amazing album. It is expansive, chaotic and beautiful. The drummer is a god-damn machine and the guitarists can play some really technical riffs. But the quality that makes this album so good is the songwriting, which is almost perfect. Now, if only they'd cut out most of "Ascension" and left out "Infinite Sunset of the Sleepless Man", this would be a Perfect album.

It hard to combine so many styles and succeed with it. Amia Venera Lanscape have done it here with complete finesse, so what the ambient sections to go on for a little too long >cough ascending cough< but I can look past it because everything is so well crafted here.

By far one of the best debuts released by the Italian scene, launching itself ahead of numerous post metal bands. From crushing guitars, bone chilling vocals to the sound of pounding, monumental drumming, the wall of sounds this band produces is not confined within the mountains of percussion but rather explores and expands into the landscape it has defined.

The Long Procession is pure, unadulterated emotion that throws its punches patiently. There's a gut-wrenching moment in each song here, and while the album could be a little shorter it's strikingly potent. Metalcore mingles with its sister subgenres to create something extraordinary, and we're all waiting with bated breath for what these gentlemen do next.

For a very long piece of art, one's exhaustion will be predictable after listening to this.
For a genre that's starting to wane, this band brought out a different output just by mixing
out those cliched simple, obvious techniques. Highlighting technicality put no drawback to
their sense of creativity.

One of the most brutal, heaviest metal albums I have ever heard. Marasm is a beast of a track and a great instrumental. This album would be a five it wasn't for Ascending and Glances Part I. However, those misses don't really do too much to take away from this incredible album. Can't wait to hear more music from them in the future.

The only problem here is the duration of the ambient sections. That apart, this is a vicious metal assault, with great riffs, precise drumming, and a great voice. This is absolutely notable, considering that "The Long Procession" is this band's debut.

Coming in Late in 2010, Amia Venera Landscape's debut The Long Procession is definitely something special. Its very easy to compare this albums sound to other bands and genres in parts and certainly is not short of influences,however this album to me is simply genreless. Whilst this album is a bit too long (albeit, the ambient passages) and is lacking a little in cohesion, Amia Venera Landscape have a unique sound which is not too commonly replicated in a debut. With The Long Procession being a lot to take in, i wouldnt be surprised if this grew on me more with several more listens. Top 10 of 2010.
