Lol at all the people complaining that a movie score does not sound like Discovery. This is a terrific score, not the next Daft Punk album. Get over it.

as a soundtrack, I'm sure this does the job. As the extremely hyped new Daft Punk material, it simply doesn't. Perhaps expecting the robots to create a soundtrack based more closely to their music was too much to ask, but overall this soundtrack sounds like every other major action movie soundtrack with some more low-end, electronic gurgling here and there, and 2 legitimate Daft Punk songs which they released prior (Derezzed, and End Credits). A major disappointment.

What did people expect? An album of tunes? This is a film score.rTo quote Christian Clemmenson (film tracks reviewer):r"Buy it... if you tire of convention and are prepared for one of the most original-sounding, distinctly rendered mergings of orchestral force and unique synthetic soundscapes to ever be combined in a film score."rBy far the best score of the year, and a work of genius. Who would have guessed Daft Punk could write for strings like that!?

This is so good, perfect in these cold, dark months. Daft Punk take their nigh-legendary house-dance stuff and mix in theatrical composition and the result is a tour-de-force of mood and enjoyability. Daft Punk and Tron seem to be a match made in heaven.

'Derezzed' alone saves this. Also that chick from the movie was hot, and this makes me think of her, so obviously gotta give it a good score.

Discovery it is not... but um, was it supposed to be? Obviously not. Tron, a classic sci-fi movie with a solid fan-base that Disney didn't want to disappoint. Daft Punk, possibly the geekiest electronica duo that everybody and their mother has heard of. Daft Punk was tasked with creating a perfect soundtrack that mixed the grandiose overthetop-ness of blockbuster scores with the simplistic yet perfectly not-so electronic clicks and whistles that made them icons. In this way they made the perfect album. Without the cinema backdrop this album has a tougher time standing on its own feet (I mean, the only song really worth keeping, just to listen to, would have to be "derezzed."), but that's not what this was made for, it was made to mesh perfectly with the movie... And it Did!!rAgain, I reiterate. With Movie: 4.5/5...Without Movie: 3.5/5

Its not a Daft Punk album, its very much a Soundtrack. The very generic, BIG sounding strings drown out most of the DP beats. It was fine to listen through the first time, but I don't really see myself revisiting any more than 2 tracks ever again. I can't recommend Daft Punk fans buy this album.
