Aerosmith trying to cash in on the big hair era. The result is the by the books rockers and ballads. However, you cannot discredit efforts like "Love in an Elevator," "The Other Side," "Janie's Got a Gun," and "What it Takes."
As you see, it is pretty easy to discern the hits, the rest of the album is pretty generic with strange instrumentals thrown in between songs for faux artistic merit.
Take the money and run, average enjoyable album, nothing more than that.

This is a great Aerosmith CD. This is, in my opinion, one of Aerosmith's best albums. With classic Aero fused with a slightly different sound, it makes every track on this very well done and fun to listen to.

If "Rocks" defined hard-rock guitar playing in the 70's, "Pump" took hard-rock albums to a new level, where hits met a new artistic height for the ultimate 70's American band.
Where "Done with Mirrors" meant the get-back-together, and "Permanent Vacation" the back-in-shape, "Pump" signified Aerosmith's greatest album since the aforementioned "Rocks" and probably their last classic to date.
Yes, they've been more commercially succesful than this ("Get a Grip") and far more experimental ("Get Your Wings", "Rocks") but surely "Pump" delivers better than all those good ole Aerosmith's trademark hard-rock.

this album wouldn't be so great... but still nice.
