This is actually really impressive on a musical level, especially the first half of the record. Unfortunately, CuDi still sucks. Yeah yeah, this is him opening up and making an "introspective" statement; the problem is that he's like the 100th rapper to do that in the past 10 years and he's really not all that good at it. He can't decide whether he wants to impersonate Damian Marley's flow, rap about weed like Devin the Dude (except Devin the Dude's actually a clever lyricist) or be the hip hop everyman like Kanye West, but no matter what he does it's still a copy of something else and CuDi just can't provide enough polish to make it interesting. It's a shame too, because the record has really intriguing potential based purely on the beats, but KiD CuDi still seems like an overhyped image that's all form, no content.

Cudi does it again, I'd put this up there with his first one. Although this one is a lot more mellow imo.

Love this more than his first album but not much more. What got my attention here is dark atmosphere of album.

It's everything we could have hoped for and so much more. Dark, brooding, experimental, effervescent and ultimately brilliant. This is somehow an even more personal record than his first, reflecting the personal troubles that Cudi has experienced since his first album (mainly his cocaine addiction), and you can hear the sadness, desperation, bravado and torment Cudi releases from his very soul on almost every track. I think it's safe to say this is not only Cudi's best work to date, it's one of the finest hip-hop albums to be released in years.

Cudi goes a much darker route with this one. In my book, that doesn't downgrade the talent Cudi has. I won't lie, I enjoyed this more than MOTM: The End of The Day.

This album is a permanent marking point in my life for future nostalgia. With such odd originality and contagious hooks, this album completely defeats his last effort in terms of song-writing, although lyrically Mescudi isn't much improved from his previous work. If he had more memorable lyrics, this would be a 5.

too mellow in my opinion. and usually cudi pulls it off, but with this release i found myself wishing there were more faster songs. or even more like the pursuit of happiness. but there aren't. there are just multiple slow songs with kid rapping, which is still good, hence the rating.
