We're all adults here, right? I mean, we realise that this is absolute fucking shit from a dumbfuck scene kid who's worked with people from both Korn AND Limp Bizkit and sung in one of the worst faux-emo bands of the 2000s? This sounds like a robot taking a shit. Fuck this.

From First to Last to simply first, Sonny Moore’s debut as an electro fiend with a penchant for wicked bass drops and unintelligible Auto-Tune somehow worked, in its own messy way. Skrillex will never win any critical awards, but as the rawest form of party starter, few could match up to the relentless stream of house, electro and dubstep that Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites spits out. Pills not included.

In retrospect... I mean, it certainly has its stand out tunes, unfortunately the mixing and sound selection is quite
atrocious. It may have sounded like something new at the time but really he just took already existing ideas and sounds
from artists like Justice, Noisia, Deadmau5 and Rusko that sound way better than this. Not to mention that it spawned
the demonic child that is brostep. I cant give it an average because it definitely jumps out the speaker even though it
does so mostly in a kind of annoying fashion.

2010 m/ m/ Let's be honest, apart from the OG t/t, the rest is pretty shitty, and there are 3 unnecessary remixes. But damn, that t/t is absolutely bonkers - or maybe that's just nostalgia talking. Nevertheless, I remember getting into metalcore at the time. Skrillex's music appealed to me and the boyz because he translated metalcore's breakdown into electronic music. Let the music rise, pull out a one-liner punchline, then let's go fucking craycray. Ye it's dumb, but it worked damn well during festivals. That t/t was a classic back then, even though the rest is trash.

Yes, it may have given rise to the unending swarm of "dubstep" remixes of everything ever and simultaneously brought America's bastardization of dubstep to the mainstream, but for its time Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites was actually pretty sweet. Why? Because it, for the most part, was content to be party music. Nothing more, nothing less. It sounded like a guy just having fun with producing rather than trying to recreate the title track of this EP for years on end. It sounded, for all of its wubs and bass drops, like it had at least some emotion in it. And that, as far as I'm concerned, is pretty cool.

I believe this album is totally underrated from this site. Yes, I agree that Bangarang is terrible, but skrillex makes an amazing set of tracks. Each of the 6 original tracks have their own feel to it, and doesn't sound taken from another artist either. If only skrillex could make his stuff as good as this.

Skrillex is absolutely incredible in Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. The main part is incredible then it drops into an utterly insane deepness that'll nearly drive you crazy, then it'll bring you back up to the lighter main parts and it'll give your ears the relief they need and then it'll bring you back down, and you'll love every second of it, even the drops which are CRAZY!!!!!!!!! I'm giving this 5 out of 5 and if you haven't heard this album yet, then it is highly recomended...

After giving it a listen. It is honestly not that bad at all, better then most crap I hear on a day to day basis and it's actually a bit entertaining, definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea. On par with Daft Punk if you ask me.

Dubstep sucks in general. The only person to do it right in the past few years was Burial, and apart from one song, this is over-the-top awful noise production at its worst, with Skrillex showing no signs of subtlety or restraint. All I Ask Of You is the best song, mainly because Skrillex's annoying tendency to add awful noise effects is downplayed to the point of questioning why it's even on this album. The last we need in the world is some jackass who thinks he's so great that he can add multiple remixes of his own shitty songs on his own EP. Anyone who truly thinks this shit is true art is probably the same idiotic scene kid who says Andy Sixx and Robert Smith are their heros.

I would personally call Skrillex part of the 'New Wave of American Dubstep'. His sound is nothing like the traditional Dubstep sound he has tailored it to be more melody heavy combining Progressive House into the mix and that is what makes this EP so good.

You know, Im still at an odds what to make of Dubstep. I really dont know if I can take it seriously at all, yet alot of the time it's still undeniably fun. And I gotta say, despite that I really never enjoyed Sunny Moore's other projects in the past. I really dig some of the tracks on this album. While overall pretty repetitive, it is still alot of friggin fun. Kill Everybody was the first song that I really got into. Scatta and Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites are both pretty sick.rThe remixes add some fun to the album but arent insanely different from the original tracks but enough so that they add more listenability to the album and with a genre like dubstep the music does tend to get boring after a few listens so the remixes are certainly a nice touch.rSkrillex isnt pushing any boundaries here, but the album if fun if you dont mind dubstep and is probably some of the more innovative as far as the genre goes. Worth checking out IMO.

Great mixture of dubstep, electro and melody. Sonny Moore injects an energy and tempo often found in electro and house, but injects the intensity of the dubstep drop and wobble. It is only a natural progression of his hardcore/metal roots which has led to this unique synthesis of electronic music that both the guys and girls can headbang and dance to.
