The Fool is the best example in recent memory of an album that never has a release, never a climax, and it's all the more memorable for it. It keeps you in its seductive, tender vortex throughout its duration and its glimmering beauty is heightened by an excellent array of songwriting and draining, dense atmosphere. One of the best albums of the year definately.
Gave the album a few more listenings; focused less on the vocals (which was the big throw off for me); grew to love the slightly sliding transitioning; drumming is just damn tasty with that hi-hat usage and ghost notes on the snare and minimal yet tasty toms!
Starts out pretty strong but totally drives into a ditch around the 3rd to last track which it never manages to pull itself out of. I would give this a 3 were it not for those awful last three songs. "Baby" is just a horrible mess of aimlessly meandering vocals.
