I wish there was a way that I could put in a number juuuust below a 4.
With people abuzz with anticipation for their debut album, they had to produce SOMETHING to hold everyone over after all the delays, and I'm glad they did. It's certainly a competent effort and near the top of the "djent" scene today (I'm still on the sidelines waving the Vildhjarta flag), but certain parts of it have me wishing it were 2007 again and I was just listening to their demo for the first time.
To get one thing out of the way: I do not like the new vocalist as much as the original one. This new guy is certainly talented, but with his addition it seems TesseracT has taken one step away from their own sound and closer to Periphery's. The old guy just had something raw and driving that's now missing.
My second big complaint is the production/mixing. I honestly prefer the production style of their demos. Perhaps they had to bump up the bass in order to balance with the new guy's higher-pitched voice.
But if this is an indication of how the future will sound for these guys, I'll deal with it. It's a solid release. It doesn't get stale or too repetitive (I like the mixing up of textures every once in a while - thanks, bass slaps!). I could listen to Part Three over and over again. In a way I'm now more interested than ever to see how "One" will turn out.

Clean, technically brutal and epic, and just the right tone in the screaming/growling. Perfect balance of melody and pure driving rhythm. This contains moments of stunning brilliance and force, but sometimes feels a bit unfocused. Overall, excellent record.

The first track i've ever listened to from them was "Deception" : a great opener, an addictive voice and some true good riffs.rAs I finally got their first EP a few time ago, I can now say that my impression is extendable to the whole album. I'm decerning a real effort to include their own sound, and not sounding like all those common djenty bands that all do the same kind of music.

Djent? maybe. I honestly like the word "djent" (and all its djentlemanly puns) better than most of the genre
itself, so I guess I am reluctant to associate something I like this much with a style that I generally find... a
little meh. However, calling Concealing Fate djent is way better than comparing it to Periphery. Ambience,
expression, layers, cohesive themes: Tesseract understands all these things; Periphery is a mockery of the
bands similar in tone but vastly different in musical composion.rI still need to listen to this EP a bit more to
really dig into it, but I feel like I will be able to, which is a sign of something good. In general TesseracT
does a really good job of mixing vocal styles, guitar styles, and general ambient calm with upbeat (sigh)
djent. The result is a captivatingly layered and dynamic piece of composition when the EP is viewed as a
whole.
