Blacklight demonstrates how Iris can easily move in and out of a more rockish territory compared to the usual synthpop we are more familiar with. This was initiated on their previous album, Wrath, and it proved successful. Iris can sound fantastic when it comes to blending guitars and synthpop together to create a soft yet sometimes aggressive sound and that also makes it very difficult to pick the best songs since each has unbelievably catchy choruses and other parts.
