If nothing else, this makes me remember high-schoolers CAN matter. Matter of fact, this makes me even MISS high school. It perfectly captures that feeling of weirdo-homemade-Eminem worship, with tons of original character and standout lyrics that are equal parts complex, smart, 'uber-offensive' and memorable. Given their age groups, all that 'uber-offensive' stuff is most likely just natural instinct.

Earl, Wakeupfaggot, and Luper were about the only things on this album I could stay awake for before going unconscious from uninspired ludicrousy. Seriously, this guy needs to grow up a bit before attempting this kind of album.

A slightly grosser, more immature version of the Slim Shady LP. This guy is going to blossom into a real sick fuck. Great abstract beats, and lyrics that range from cringe worthy, to downright giggle inducing. If, you're expecting ILLmatic, you may be disappointed, but take it at face value, and it's one of the more refreshing Hip-Hop releases of the year.

At first glance (or actually listen), Earl just sounds like any other stereotypical horror core teenage rapper who only talks about rapping, killing and abusement, but this is not the case. In the album/mixtape Earl, We see a very socially awkward teenager who just wants to fit in. Much like Tyler, he embraces this image of himself as an outider. In the song "Earl" where he gives an introduction to himself as a person. Right off the bat he proclaims himself and outsider "I'ma high and bothered astronaut", and then goes on to blast out a furious verse. He also shows a huge amount of vulnerability in the track "Luper" where he raps about an ex-girlfriend over a piano lead instrumental.
Earl as a rapper, is one of the best technically, although His laid back style and monotone delivery might bore some, this LP is one of the most interesting pieces from Odd Future. Even if your turned off by he gore on songs like "couch" or "epaR", It is still one of the better albums to come out of 2010

If you're at all a fan of Tyler or Odd Future, then EARL will be right up your alley. Points are deducted for a lack of depth as well as a short runtime (25 mins), but hopefully those faults will be built upon with Doris.

Best (or 2nd best) release out of OF. Very memorable and entertaining lines while still being disturbing and nihilistic. His complex structure to the rhymes are like puzzles, all the more rewarding when figured out.

I'm still in a beginner's phase in terms of appreciating hip-hop and I still have a lot to learn. However, when I came across Earl's talent for the first time, I knew this kid wasn't joking around. The whole package is fucking aggressive and straightforward. The beats throughout the album are very bass-oriented and very heavy, matching the bulky message he conveys with his vile, gruesome lyrics: don't fuck with OFWGKTA.
