Extremely solid debut effort from The Word Alive. The songs are all pretty original and at the least are entertaining. Telle Smith is an absolute beast with his screaming.

The More I listened to this album the more disapointed I was, they've replaced the intricate guitar work with synth solos and lots more chugging...lots!

The original song structures, synths, breakdowns, and overall musicianship is extremely refreshing in this album, especially when the scene is drowning with simplicity and unoriginality. Good job The Word Alive!

They a lot of potential and have grown to be one of my favorite bands but they're are a few gripes like how the re-recorded battle royale Telle's screams sound way too produced and unnatural but Hounds of Anubis is definitely they're strongest track. I hope they mature in future releases.

Originally had this at a 4 but now I see why everyone is dropping their rating, it seems cool at first but has literally no replay value... Battle Royale and 2012 are still cool but they're the only tracks that have received more than a few plays for me. Don't be deceived by Deceiver people...

I expected much less from 'Deceiver', but at the same time was kind of hoping for so much more. It's a short album that showcases the talent this band has, but in that short time shows that they need to start mixing things up a little better, and create an album that isn't as repetitive and overdone as this album eventually begins to feel.

Never was a huge fan of their EP. Thought it was pretty much the same as every other band out there only with no emotional attachment to keep me interested. But this album is fantastic. It's technical and heavy especially for a post-hardcore band. My only complaint is that even the clean vocals are hard to understand at times. I expect that from the screams but not singing.

Refreshing band with awesome guitar work, and a great screamer. The cleans are pretty good but can be a bit repetitive and some of the synth is a bit overkill. But overall a great release that shows miles of improvement.
