This is the third time Atreyu have been below a 2. Do I like any album I've heard by them at all? No. No I do not. The sad thing Brendan (drummer) shows he is actually probably the best backup vocalist in metalcore, and could actually hold a lot of these popcore songs together if he was allowed too. Instead, teh dinosaur decides to come shrieking back in at every possible waking hour, and leads me to want to go all Godzilla on his ass. I could take him.
When I first heard Atreyu's "A Deathgrip on Yesterday" i thought that they were terrible because all they did was scream. As I continued the song (Creature) i got about a minute into it and heard the drummer sing. That is what separates atreyu from other bands-hardcore screaming contrasted with great vocals from the drummer. Eventually, the singer's screaming grew on me and i listen to them everyday realizing that sometimes i can actually understand what he saying more clearly than lyrics of various other bands.
Atreyu isn't bad. When I first heard them, i thought they sucked, as the song "Ex's and Oh's" was the first i heard by them. And in all honesty, the drummer can't sing very well at all. His vocals just seem to not hit it properly. He is especially bad in Ex's and Oh's. Better in the Curse from what I've heard. Good screaming though, very raw sounding. Lyrics are nothing special though, lots of bands write similar lyrics.
i agree with lots that this album is really friggin short. but i dont agree with people bashing these guys they are extremely good musicians and i hate hearing how gay they are this album shows alot of progression in the way of musical talent and strong structure and how deep the lyrics go is amazing. this is by far the most emotional record of them.

yes im disappointed in on how short the album is but still you hear great vocals from the drummer in "exs and ohs" and "our sick story" there guitars are great they fit for every song ..this band is great ! and i agree the vocals are much more clearer to hear and understand the song
