Album made my little brother's balls drop. And I grew a beard.

Excessive breakdowns, excessive chugging, and little variety. Everything I usually hate in
an album. Some how The Acacia Strain pull you in and don't let go until the final brutal
chug in Tactical Nuke. This is one fucking heavy album. Also, I love the lyrics, don't take
P.S Tactical Nuke is an outro people, barely a song. When have you ever heard a band end an
album that way? Props to them for trying something different, and it was a very effective
way to end the album IMO.

Now as a fan of the band, I love the shit out of this record. If I was witnessing 'Tactical Nuke' live, I'd probably die from the crowd. It'd be a pretty sweet death though.
Now if I were to drop the fan boy attitude and approach the album with honest taste, I'd have to say this is generic trash.
I bet they've broken some sort of core record, by having a whole breakdown lasting 5:34. Pretty dumb.
As much of a generic boring this is, I still fucking love it.

An album that walks the fine line between legitimate music and food for bros. Enjoyable in small doses, but a chore to listen to for long. Well, that, at least, are the first impressions. The album can grow on you to the point of being thoroughly enjoyable.

TAS is either one of those bands that people love or hate. I personally am a fan of the sheer babarity they unleash musically and especially lyrically. Vincent Bennett because of these reasons is one of my favorite frontmen. After a few lineup changes, TAS seems to have finally found their sound on Wormwood. From start to finish they unleash a ferocious barrage of anger and emotion that is covered by some good guitar work. Many people complain about the massive use of breakdowns that they use, but I believe if you know what you're doing with them, then it's ok to continue to use them. TAS definitely knows what they are doing so it is ok. People often fail to mention that there is more than just breakdowns used. There is some very good guitar work, especially in the opening of my favorite song "Jonestown". Vincent's vocals have never been as clear or brutal sounding as they are on this record, which is definetly another high point of this album. If you're looking for some bone-crunching nihilistic metal, this album is for you.

I love Emmure, and yet I will say that this album IS a breakdown. Emmure is full of them, and I understand that. But this is an album breakdown. It's not very original, and there is no apparent talent to be seen. Vincent can scream though.

Alot of Meshuggah influence is put into this Acacia Strain album (notably on The Impaler). I feel there is something wrong with this album, and I have no idea of what it is.
|4.0 excellent||chris0987 | February 18th 11|
Definitely their heaviest album, musically, and production wise. Both in a good way, they are definitely still among one of the few actually talented bands in the "deathcore" genre
|3.5 great||PapaBerr | September 8th 10|
A step in the right direction towards what had made them so spectacular in the first place. I can't say enough how amazing The Dead Walk was, it always will remain the pinnacle of their career but Wormwood is for better or worse a solid piece of brutal music.

It's an addition problem. The terms are generic guitar playing, generic drum patterns and unoriginal songwriting. Impossibly, however, the sum is 'good music'.rGo figure.

This is so much better than continents.
there is more variety in there songs, they're easy to get in

It was terribly boring, I shouldnt be able to be listening to this at work and not even realize 4 songs have passed. Even Continent was better than this. I liked maybe 3 songs off this whole cd. I suppose I had high expectations for this band, I didn't think they would let me down super hard. But sure enough they managed to do it.

Pretty much standard Acacia Strain. It's brutal as hell with a touch of melody thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately, the change to a single guitarist has left their sound falling a little flat when compared to the work on Continent. The lyrical content is angry and misanthropic as one would expect. It's effective but will probably leave a little to be desired among new and old fans alike. Overall, it's a solid enough release from a band that shows no signs of backing down or letting up.

Taking into account the best parts of The Dead Walk and Continent, Wormwood is an extremely heavy album that is a lot of fun to listen to.

I had a feeling that this album wouldn't top Continent, and I was definitely right, but I do feel that Vincent put his true hatred of humanity into his vocals. He actually sounds like he's angry, rather than just screaming. The first 5 songs kept me interested, but by the end of the album, it is a lot of the same. As an actual song, "Tactical Nuke" sucks, but I do think it was a good choice for an outro; I felt that the slowing of the tempo and the monotony of it kind of embodied the idea of human degradation that Vincent and the guys were likely hoping for.
|4.0 excellent||Mike Detelj | July 15th 10|
In terms of the comments about a single guitarist...they've been that way since the dead walk. The other ones (that's right, they had three) had issues with them, not to mention probably would've held them back a bit more. "DL" just double and triple tracks dual melodies and such a lot...which is a little frustrating due to the fact it's never at a live show.
|4.0 excellent||saucy | July 15th 10|
This, i feel, is continent plus the dead walk. The dead walk is clearly the most dominant.
|3.0 good||hipnotoad | July 15th 10|
Any hope of technicality has been abandoned for a crunchy guitar tone, and plenty of chugging. Wormwood is basically a heavier version of 3750. The lyrics are utterly horrible, but at the end of the day, it's still an enjoyable album. Continent is still their best album to date. Oh yeah, and Tactical Nuke is one of the shittiest songs I've ever heard.

it was a pretty good album. but tactical nuke was just a very bad song like wtf were they thinking, worse way to end a album. i'll never get that 5 minutes and 34 seconds back now. WHY THE FUCK DID THEY USE 8 STRING GUITARS! TOTALL WASTE OF FRETBOARD!! THEY HARDLY USE ALL SIX STRING LET ALONE 8!!
|3.5 great||Geoff Robertson | July 15th 10|
Pretty goddamn heavy, step up from Continent in my opinion. As mentioned, some atrocious lyrics. Also, some of the electronic elements become a bit grating, and by the end they're downright tiresome, although it could be worse. Ends on a low note with Tactical Nuke. Overall, a pretty good time.
