| 2.5 average | Pizzathehutt | August 3rd 06 | This album, and more precisly this band, are the appitamy of metal of our time. While there are still some metal bands out there with talent most have none. Can they shred their guitars like no body else? Yes. But its the song writing itself and that kills them. Each song is like a 4 1/2 minute guitar solo. For most of the album I couldn't even tell that the track had changed. And it shows how full of themselves they really are. And where's the bass? No bass player? What a joke. This whole band may drive nintendo fan boys crazy, but for someone who has taste in metal, you may want to pass.

| 0.0 | will666 | December 26th 06 | DragonForce is an extremely overrated modern-day metal band. It's just the same stuff throughout the whole damn CD. Every track is the same as the other. But deep down inside, I like this album.

| 2.0 poor | freudianslipknot | December 25th 06 | I am bothered by what is meant by the continual application of the adjective "cheesy" to dragonforce - even their fans call them cheesy - and yet cheesy is not a compliment (generally meaning: derivative, shoddy, insincere, low quality, worthless). It has been suggested that dragonforce do not take themselves seriously and once one just realises that being "cheesy" is their intent, then one will begin to appreciate that their music is actually not bad at all (even good). But this makes no sense. It is like saying that a band is c**p and they are deliberately trying to be c**p and once your realise this, you will see they are actually not c**p. I think that a far better adjective for dragonforce is "over-the-top" meaning "exceeding the normal bounds, extravagant, immoderate, more than is usually required, extreme." I am not keen on dragonforce, but that's because I find them a bit much to take - that's all - but I can quite see why some-one would really enjoy them.

| 3.5 great | Joe (Otisbum) | October 10th 06 | DragonForce, known for their cheesy lyrics, lightning-fast guitar solos, mindblowing keyboard solos, and heart pounding drum beats. They prove they're the best at what they do, in only 8 songs. Just one downside, half of these songs sound about the same. Don't get me wrong, Inhuman Rampage is a great album, full of ZP's great lyrics, Sam and Herman's amazing dual-solos, Dave's speedy drumming, Vadim's beautiful keyboarding (shown in 'Trail of Broken Hearts', and even Frederic shows some bass talents in 'Body Breakdown'. If you think this is one of those albums that you will be hooked on from the beginning, you may be wrong. This could turn out to be one of those albums that takes awhile for you to get hooked on, but will hold its place in your heart for a long time.

| 4.5 superb | alakazam9891 | July 30th 09 | Dragonforce is popular for being in a Guitar Hero and shredding fast. I like them because they shred fast. Dragonforce rocks. A lot of people don't get the joke, but those that do, love Dragonforce. The vocals are over the top, as is the guitar and the drumming. But not the bass. I don't think they have a bass player.
I mean, these guys are basically a real-life Dethklok. Except even funnier. They sing about flames, marching, fire, burning, dragons, and burning flames, amongst other things. In the lyrical department, they are like geniuses. Dethklok has gore, Dragonforce has fantasy. Listening to this album is like playing through The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time all over again. That's how awesome these guys are.
Plus, everyone in the band is Japanese, which is the land of video games! It's obvious these guys played Double Dragon and Golden Axe quite a bit back in the day. And they have awesome keyboards, like they have in video games.
The guitars really rock. I think Herman Lee and Sam Totmun are two of the best guitar players ever. They are faster than lightning and their shredding can tear through steel with its miraculous velocity and unrelentless power of amazing insanity and brutality. They are relly good at guitar.
And their singer is amazing. He can reach some high notes. His voice is hilarious, and it totally works with the music. He is loud and powerful.
Dragonforce also has a drummer. He plays faster than Sonic The Hedgehog. Everyone in this band is fast. It's like you can't even tell the songs are long because it's all so fast.
I really think this may be the fastest album ever. It's polished, clean production is good too, and it works with that sound.
Through the Fire and Flames is a very famous song because of Guitar Hero, and it's awesome. It's fast and awesome, and it's very upbeat. Really awesome song.
Revolution Deathsquad is also awesome. It has some of the funniest lyrics ever and it's just really good. It's like, 9 minutes long, but it's 9 minutes of face melting butt kicking.
Storming the Burning Fields is also cool. It's got fast guitar. It's like a sequel to TTFAF. If this was in Guitar Hero....oh boy!
Operation Ground and Pound is the only weak point. This song is retarded. It drags on way too long, but the guitar saves it. Guitar rocks!
Body Breakdown is like Operation Ground and Pound lyric wise, but it's really good and has a stronger message. Awesome song.
Cry for Eternity is a bit of a ballady love song, about ZP Theart's broken heart. It's really moving actually. Corny, I know! But it makes me all bubbly inside. It's so beautiful. I mean, if this band wasn't a joke band, I could actually take it seriously!
The Flame of Youth is so cool. After that slow song, speed picks up. This song is about the flame that is our youth and how the flame is extinguished when we get old and then the fun ends, and how youth is taken away from us. Really serious lyrics, surprising for a joke band. Still a great song. Its speed and fastness represents how fast our youth and childhood go by, and we should live life to its very fullest before we get old and senile.
Trail of Broken Hearts is a really fun song. It's about this trail of broken hearts that the main character must cross to get to where he wants to be. Really inspiring song, good to work out to.
This album is excellent. It's fast, fun, it's got great lyrics, and only one true weak point. I would give it a 5 out of 5 but since this is sort of a joke band, I just can't do it. Really amazing stuff though, and the last few songs have really serious lyrics that sort of make me wonder, Hey, is this band a joke after all? I mean, the music is played with stunningly precise precision and the excecution is absolutely flawless, and the album flows very well. These guys may very well be the Weird Al Yankovic of heavy metal music! These guys are, dare I say it, BETTER than Dethklok! And Dethklok is amazing too. Dethklok's funny, but Dragonforce definitely put way more effort into being a funny band, and it shows in their music. And before I end this review, I'd like to say: I beat Through the Fire and Flames on EXPERT.

| 2.5 average | Kyle Hallman | February 19th 09 | So the band name sounds like it's named after a Lego set, and the vast majority of the music is just shredding to the point it becomes repetive and dull. The drumming is simplistic and all the songs seem to be written about fighting dragons. This band gained mainstream success after their inclusion in GH3 (though many knew them before).
Despite that most of the songs sounds the same and theirs not alot of substance there, Dragonforce is still quite fun to listen to....In doses. If they took themselves more seriously and slowed down on the guitar added some more complex drumming and maybe made some serious power metal. This band would be considered alot more than just guitar and speed whores.

| 3.0 good | yontar | July 11th 08 | there is so much power metal that is better than this. the first time i heard the band i was kind of impressed mostly by the guitar work, but the songwriting is absolutely pitiful. It's easily the most predictable power metal i have ever heard (outside of the random wankery which is impressive for about a minute until you realize that it keeps happening over and over. this review isn't even for inhuman rampage. in essence, this is my review of dragonforce as a band. A large amount of talent being wasted on miserable excuses for songs.

| 1.5 very poor | Cody Foss | April 23rd 08 | After two successful albums, Inhuman Rampage tears down any shred of hope Dragonforce had of becoming great. It sounds as if they made one good song and just split it up into eight different parts which makes this a very tiring and trying listen, even to the hardcore.
Note:You are not a Dragonforce fan if you call Through the Fire and Flames their best song, you are a Guitar Hero player if you do.

| 2.0 poor | Bob | March 25th 07 | One of the most talented bands ever. No kidding. When seen on a very rough standard, these six guys seem very gifted. Sadly, it is easy to notice that this band is probably the most one-trick-pony band ever. The drummer, has a suffficient speed, but he is doing nothing but standard patterns. The bassist and keyboard are not present enough. The vocalist is always singing the same melody, in every song. It becomes rather tiring. These four guys however, are not the pinnacle of the band. The main purpose of this band is to have two guitarists doing fast solo's. Herman Li and Sam Totman are incredibly speedy, but it becomes rather tiring when they play the exact same melodies over 8 songs. Doing the same tricks over and over again, the album is full with it. Dragonfcore failed to create a good album.

| 4.0 excellent | rockfan | December 25th 06 | This is the ulimate drinking album. A few mates, a box of beers and this album and your set for a kick ass night of air guitar and moshing that endangers anyone within a 10 meter radius. And BTW, KEYBOARDISTS CAN PLAY BASS PARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
However it's downfall is that some tracks are similar, put everything else makes up for that!!

| 4.5 superb | kinslayerSOA | April 15th 09 | Although Dragonforce are seen as a band formed by Guitar Hero, it is vital to remember that this album (and therefore Through the Fire and the Flames) was released 21 months before Guitar Hero 3. The album itself is great. There are fast punchy songs, but the album ends on a beautiful ballad, which is really what is necessary for this sort of album (lightspeed songs which leave you to relax at the end).
Top 3 songs - Revolution Deathsquad, Operation Ground & Pound, Trail of Broken Hearts
Bottom 3 songs - Body Breakdown, Cry For Eternity, The Flame of Youth

| 1.5 very poor | Dethtrasher | October 3rd 08 | The guys in DragonForce have the skills to develop awesome music, but they don't know how to use them. Inhuman Rampage is all about guitar wankery. The album contains at least one million notes and riffs but the drum patterns are not even more than five. This bothers me a lot, listen carefully and you will notice that every song has the same type of drum patterns. The only reason I rated this album is because of one song, yes, Through The Fire and Flames. DragonForce needs to ditch the immense guitar wankery and find a more versatile drummer.

| 0.0 | Conor Mackie | August 22nd 08 | An interesting blend of mega-fast albeit studio-engineered guitar work, epic fantasy themed lyrics and somewhat inappropriately happy and uplifting melodies. Worth at least a listen or two, until you can pick out one or two favourites and stick only to them.

| 4.0 excellent | Greg Viessman | June 9th 08 | What's better than writing the same song 7 times then doing a ballad? Nothing really. These guys flare their guitars at mach 5 speeds. ZP is an excellent vocalist in the power metal genre. This has all the ingredients to be a good album. What is the problem? The songwriting. Same old same old with slaying dragons, being free before the thunderstorm, and climbing the highest mountain with your 5 foot sword. Every song is solid on here, but the same sounding songs stop this from being a remarkable release.

| 4.5 superb | masonthenile | April 24th 07 | I'm sorry but I completely disagree with the negative reviews left here. I play guitar religiously myself, and I also listen to Dragonforce on a regular basis. I don't understand how someone with ANY musical appreciation could say that Dragonforce has failed to create a good album or that they are 'cheesy' and have failed to do something worth appreciation. I've seen Dragonforce and as 'cheesy' as someone wants to say they are in a negative sense - they are wrong. Dragonforce is definitely pushing boundaries, just not in a 'cheesy' sense or in a comical manner. Their image is unique and they are doing something that no band has been able to do thus far whilst keeping their fanbase. If I see anyone trying to tell me Dragonforce is repetitive and 'cheesy' and musically boring, it just goes to show that person's opinion is surely blinded by lack of musical appreciation. Dragonforce is the ultimate EXTREME power metal band and I'm sorry - I just completely and thoroughly disagree with anyone who tries and tell me otherwise. Enough said.
