This album is absolutely everything I had hoped it would be; fun and poppy (and sometimes even danceable) black metal. Euronymous is turning in his grave.
Having just started exploring the depths and sub-genres of metal, after being introduced to the genre by begrudingly, slowly falling head over heels for Between The Buried And Me's "Colors," I found this album very approachable without losing any of its essential brutality. Fantastic guitar work, interesting, moderately discernable lyrics, and a great sense of dark rythm and even groovieness abound. Also a bit psychadelic. Heavy as tar and almost as tasty. Awesome record.
