If your favorite LCD tracks are along the lines of "North American Scum" and "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House", there won't be much to love here. But if you fell in love with Sound Of Silver thanks to the rollicking slow build of "All My Friends" or the quiet heartbreak of "Someone Great", there's plenty of great stuff to be had here. There is not a single weak track here (even the slightly disappointing "Drunk Girls" works on record), and several of them are transcendental - the way the synths burst in at the three-minute mark in "Dance Yrself Clean" is incredible and the driving riff of "All I Want" gives the piano figure of "All My Friends" a run for its money.

You know all the lazy, average filler that's all over the last two LCD Soundsystem records? You know how you forgave them for it because there were tracks as great as "Daft Punk is Playing at My House" and "North American Scum" to make up for it? You know how much you'd have disliked and ignored those albums if it wasn't for those tracks? This is Happening is that album. It's been fun, Mr. Murphy, but I think I'm leaving you behind at this point.

An elegant swan song from the old-scruffy dancemaster himself, James Murphy and his LCD Soundstytem. Superbly arranged and executed dance rock that is sure to get any white people party grooving as hard as they can try. Farewell and adieu, James. Thanks for the tunes.

Over halfway through 2010 and I have to say this is probably my favourite album for the year. As much as I love some of the other stuff like Broken Social Scene, The National, Caribou, Big Boi, Bonnie Prince Billy and many others (It's a great year for music) This one stands out! I rate LCD Soundsystem as one of the truely great bands of the last decade. I saw them live not that long ago and they absolutely blew my mind. It's one of the great musical experiences out there. What a gifted bunch of people. And apart from the great music it's the lyrics that as you delve into them make it worth your while. 5 out of 5 and than some!

Prog Dance, robertsona? Really?
Getting past that, this album is hardly an ambitious effort but seems to make it think so with it's tedious song lengths. Would've been better as 3-4 minute tracks. Would've been actually fun, because this record has downright funky moments.

LCD Soundsystem already created two exceptionally good albums with their self-titled and "Sound of Silver", and they did it again: "This Is Happening" is a great collection of dance-y song. I was left a bit disappointed by "Drunk Girls", which was the first released track out of that album. It was slightly repetitive and felt boring. But the other tracks are frigging awesome. This album is clearly not for everyone, since its full of long dance songs (9 songs in total; most of these succeed the 6 minute mark) that don't change a lot in structure and lyrics , but James Murphy and co. do so well in creating cleverly crafted pop songs that in the end, it doesnt matter

Insultingly good. While it draws obvious inspiration from Talking Heads, Murphy's latest (and apparently last) is a meticulously crafted body of work that is fresh, vibrant and consistent. 'Pow Pow' raises the roof with its sick, tribal-oriented grooves while 'One Touch', albeit slightly reminiscent of Get Innocuous, offers a thumping synth driven beat that refuses to let go.
An essential purchase.
