This is not The Clash. After some major conflicts between the band following the release of Combat Rock the group started to deteriorate, resulting in the loss of guitarist Mick Jones and drummer Topper Headon. Cut The Crap would be the bands final album or rather the first and last of the new reformed Clash. Cut The Crap is watered down with no real energy the band was known for and Mick's absence is felt in the song writing department. The sound is way over produced and the excessive use of electronics and drum machines makes for a monotonous disco-punk sound, and the frequent use of the crowd chanting chorus' doesn't help either. However, there is a gem here in This Is England, the last great Clash song. Three Card Trick is listenable as well, but Cut The Crap is only for die hard collectors; a somewhat sad ending to one of the best bands there ever was.
This Is England, Three Card Trick and North and South are very good tracks but for the most part the album is a mess and not really representative of the classic Clash line-up of three years previous.
