Part 1 was quite a big disappointment for me,
so my expectations for Part 2 were pretty
low. But I found Part 2 to be much more
enjoyable and a massive improvement over
Part 1, honestly extremely pleasantly
surprised.

An album that strikes for some faux nostalgia, yet even at that shoots in all the wrong directions. There are some spectacularly ill-inspired moments and choices, from the bizarre pop-rap intersections to the weird arena production, to all the bland and flavourless instrumentals that they tried to cover with the awkward mix. Strange decisionmaking across the whole album with some tepid song-writing to top it all off. The only thing that is keeping me from absolutely hating this thing (more than I already do) is the intent and the occasional lyrics. But heck even in that, even with a heavy theme or personal issue to explore, they manage to bring out just the most baffling word choice out there, sounding more like angry teenagers than grown-ups.

Liked this more than Part 1, has many more songs I go back to. Personal highlights for me are All
I See is You, Sobriety, and Slow Down. Very solid stuff

I feel like Blue October is too old at this point in their lives to be trying to make ?young? people music. To have a 47-year-old Justin singing about longing for love from his middle school sweetheart feels a little tacky if you don?t ask me. But moving on to the newest Blue October album feels like they are pulling at the lowest common denominator of alt-pop and alternative rock to try and corral any new fans they can. But for a band that has not been relevant since the early 2000s that?s kind of pulling at strings. Much of the album has these overlay-long and lifeless alternative rock triggers that go nowhere. Other than a handful of highlights here and there, this just doesn?t seem like it?s worth anyone?s time.
