This is arguably the most essential album in death metal. Blast-beats galore and numerous awesome riffs.

Its brutal as fuck. Grinding heavily distorted guitars, awesome bass and drumming, and some extremely deep death growls to top it all off. Songs all have great riffs, the most catchiest probably being HAMMER SMASHED FACE. The beat will stay in your head for ages. The lyrics on this album can be described as insane, bizarre, fucked up, stupid, br00tal or all of the above. I mean not everyone writes a song called "Entrails Ripped From a Virgin's C*nt.
This album is very high standard death metal and considered a fan favourite. Pick it up for sure!

Cannibal Corpse is a great band and "Tomb of the Mutilated" is a great album... however that is as far as it goes for me. This is one of my favorite Death Metal albums, but once I hear this album, I feel like I've heard all of the Cannibal Corpse albums. Might I add that Corpsegrinder appears to be leading Cannibal Corpse to a sharp turn for the worst? The instrumentation isn't as creative (imo), the lyrics aren't nearly as "shocking" as the used to be (for better or for worse), and in comparison to Chris Barnes, he seems completely unwilling to experiment with new things in vocals. Anyway, listening to this in comparison to the new CC albums is really saddening because I know that even if they were to go back to that, *that* would be the only thing they do.

While at the time of its conception, Tomb Of The Mutilated was considered by Death Metal fans as a quintissential release, Chris Barne's "one-trick pony" vocal range and a few weak tracks prevent this overall excellent album from being a true classic among the likes of those such as Morbid Angel's Altar Of Madness and Death's Scream Bloody Gore.

People often criticize this album of having lyrics with no substance and being very offensive, well cannibal corpse has done their job. This album is a excellent listen start to finish. It's very brutal, and the mucisianship on this album is surprisingly good

The most brutal out of all of the Cannibal Corpse album to date, and in my opinion a classic. The lyrics are typical death metal lyrics, gore filled and they do what they were made to do, they put extremely graphic pictures in your head. The riffs are very catchy, this is most noticable on Hammer Smashed Face. The vocals are really deep brutal grunts, and to me they were really easy to understand.

Pure Death Metal....as much as I also like Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse Doesn't have the cheap cookie monster vocals but yet in TOTM, Barnes supplies you with DM vocals that'll shread any other DM band you can name! if you listen to Death Metal then I DEMAND you pick up this album A.S.A.P!
