1.0 awful | Erwann S. STAFF | July 18th 23 | Overproduced mess, over-the-top (in a bad way) vocals, a mishmash of genres that shines by how hilariously off the mark its derivativeness is, and on top of that this shit is carried by dull songwriting. Fortunately for them imma non-lyric mf.

1.0 awful | Ectier | May 22nd 23 | Many ideas and a potential for a band that could be quite good if they dropped their metal side as it is easily the weakest link in this sound. Vocals feel layered behind many effects, lyrics are....well they are sure something. Parts of this feel clinical. There is no doubting they have talent, this isnt awful its just average. If you dig it enjoy it, if not your tried it and move on.

1.0 awful | bigguytoo9 | December 18th 23 | Straight up trash, no reason to listen to this garbage band. Sounds like a gr 7's playlist. Fuck this shit.

1.5 very poor | westerndragon | December 17th 23 | If The Chainsmokers threw in some breakdowns and hardcore vocals for clout.

1.5 very poor | Ben Kupiszewski | September 26th 23 | Although he makes you work to grasp them (Long-standing conventions of punctuation, grammar, and capitalization in English are optional, apparently, when it's "Diatribing-time!"), JohnnyoftheWell's criticisms in his review are basically right: This is a vapid, shapeless, cacophonous amalgamation of disjunctive production choices masquerading as artistic expression.
"Aqua Regia" is the only redeeming track on here with any intriguing dynamics. The omnipresent modulated auto-tuned vocals are dialed down a bit in the verses and bounce well in the choruses with the jazz-lounge piano slinking seductively in the background. These elements' flirty interplay builds and then climaxes with some actual erotic, poetic swagger before being snuffed out for just more samplings of insipid sonic slop.
If we could give this album an achievement, it would only be that it can be described as a hideous chimera so malformed and grotesque in its monstrous monotony, contra Greek myth, it would slay Bellerophon and devour his noble winged steed, Pegasus -- both of whom are Classical representations of heroism, goodness, and beauty.
Sure, we could also say Take Me Back to Eden is "music" insofar that contents can be tautologically characterized as sound organized in time. However, that raises the question: What godforsaken intelligence did the organizing? Some commenters on JohnoftheWell's review quipped that the album sounds like as if it was devised and generated by AI. For the sake of us all, I pray not. What is certain, though, is that whatever entity, homo sapiens or otherwise, that is culpable for begetting this latest travesty of our postmodern culture lacks the thing that defines our species of hairless, bipedal ape as indeed human, and makes sound organized in time known as music in fact worth listening to -- a soul.
(It also means that there definitely is a ginger beneath that silly mask and behind that pretentious "Vessel" persona.)

4.0 excellent | Reviewc0re | May 24th 23 | Never seen a band more polarising in the metal sphere than these guys. Do you love or hate marmite?

1.5 very poor | cloakanddagger | May 22nd 23 | The charm of this band has completely worn off for me, it's a slightly above average attempt at blending polarizing genres but with really sloppy songwriting and overly-forced djent sections. The amount of processing the vocals have at times is way overboard and the mix sounds so muddy. There are some nice songs here and there though.

3.0 good | hotsoap | May 19th 23 | Love the beginning and ending segments, the middle was decent but pretty ballad-laden. I wasn't fond of the trap-style sections as they seem to be just randomly tossed in there. Also, wasn't huge on the album's track listing being front-loaded with singles, but I get it for the vibe of the album. Wish they didn't release so many songs ahead of time because I went into it having heard half of the album already. All that aside, this is a really good release.

2.0 poor | Matt | December 24th 23 | The drummer is very talented. There are a couple of bits in bits of tracks that I like (and yes, by this I mean that it's super fucking disjointed). But why does he sing like that!? Why is that his voice? That's not how vowels are pronounced! It's like he's rotated every vowel into a schwa and then sung it out of the side of his mouth. It's like hozier or that fucking "i'll be riding SHOT GUN" guy.

1.0 awful | PostmanPat | August 19th 23 | I couldn't believe how boring this album was. I thought with The Summoning, we might be getting something actually good here, but alas, it's just more of the same boring, meaningless loves songs, overproduction, no riffs, and nothing interesting happening. And... and an attempt at R&B? The ultimate Theater Kid(TM) band. I can't believe people used to make fun of Slipknot but these guys are blowing up and people think they're "deep" and "important." The NuMetal 2.0 wave has much, much better acts. These guys could be really great - they had promise on One and Two - but have not even come remotely close to delivering the goods. Meanwhile, VOLA exists.

3.0 good | iGuter | July 18th 23 | Artificial sounding, but there is that an over dramatic style that could grab your attention. As a sucker of epic, dramatic, build ups, it was easy to be amused. However, after re-listening the album a couple times, the messy flaws really start to show how awkward the composition and corny lyrics are. Still, I find enough enjoyment by its daringness in being different as a band, even more so than their first releases.

3.0 good | NarlusKing123 | May 30th 23 | Would i recommend this to my friends who listen to metal regularly? Absolutely not. BUT I did recommend this to my "normie" friends and nearly all of them have at least given this a few more listens than anything else I have recommended them. So it's a good gateway album. It is catchy enough that I haven't fully put it down yet. It is still over processed, with cringey lyrics, and a vocalist that seems determined to say some words just different enough that I'm annoyed occasionally.

2.5 average | ajcollins15 | May 25th 23 | The UK duo continues to show how explorative they are in their third album while also continuing to have the same problems that have plagued them since their 2019 debut. ?Take Me Back to Eden? is the expansive and shiny style of RnB, art pop, and various shades of alternative metal that the band has been known for. With some huge highlights on here like the multi phases ?They Summing? and the modern trip hop and RnB showings on ?Aqua Regia?, it?s hard not to be excited about the band. But there are also huge lows on here that I wish the band never did. Overall, this does produce and prove they can make a great sounding single when they stick within the confines of metal music. But when they move out of that box, they can make damn awkward and boarding-sounding pop and RnB crossovers. Maybe the band will amount to something amazing, but for now, they shall always live in the shadow of those that have been able to do the pop-metal crossover better: VOLA to name one.
