1.5 very poor | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | December 29th 23 | UMO's journey towards peak backgroundness has finalised. On aptly uncreatively titled 'V', the project engages with only the quaintest instrumental progressions for the most primitive tunes imaginable. The album is perfectly consistent and insistent in its aim to be as unremarkably composed as possible, overdrawn and lacking in any personality. All both disappointing for what the band was primarily known as, as well as expected for the trajectory they have been heading as of late.

1.5 very poor | ajcollins15 | March 21st 23 | I am reminded why this band is not very good. Overly long, overly simplistic, and relies too heavily on a vibe that really never gets to me. Maybe this style of psychedelic soup and hypnagogic pop isn?t my thing, but I would rather this record be 40 minutes shorter, had a set of strong soul vibes, and just sounded more energetic. Everything feels so low-key that it?s hard to even feel like the band was trying. The only saving grace is the opening track and ?Weekend Run?.
