3.5 great | Gary STAFF | January 30th 23 | Quite impressive debut, especially since the 8-bit influenced branch of the genre often falls into the "not-very-easy-to-listen-to" category of dungeon synth. (At least, for me.) The Black Armor contains numerous songs which could perfectly invoke an intended feeling (like the song "Black Aura Attack" definitely sounds uneasy - like what I'd expect from a song entitled like that), and the generally fast-paced flow, thanks to the blast beats-inspired drum instruments, were quite creative and I totally enjoyed these. However, I'd be very nice to have some lengthier tracks too, and I believe this lacks certain cathartic moments too. Still a very good chiptune release!
