4.5 superb | Herbie Chrost | January 28th 23 | Lil Yachty has officially dropped a prog album better than Tool. This is what Rebirth sounded rlike in Lil Wayne's head.

2.5 average | grandfather | January 27th 23 | Formerly wacky pop artist makes less wacky, more Pitchfork-reader-friendly album. Once you look beyond the relaxing production you realize it's just mid background music.

3.8 excellent | Rowan5215 STAFF | January 27th 23 | this shit veers from fantastic to bad like every few minutes but it's hard not to respect the ambition especially from an artist by the name of lil yachty

3.5 great | Zeiu | January 27th 23 | I commend him going out of the box, this could have been a typical trap album with features
from all the heavy hitters.

3.0 good | botb | January 29th 23 | The shape of trap to come. Completely left field while simultaneously being exactly what you?d expect from the sum of its parts. Can?t help but think about how much better this would?ve been with a more capable artist on these crazy instrumentals

4.0 excellent | iGuter | January 29th 23 | Psychedelic/funk? I am surprised at this incredible, stylistic shift from Lil Yachty. The hints were there, but this is the next step of an artist going fully in. It is full of life, beauty and breath, with lyrics that don?t try to pretend to be deep, but relatable and natural enough. He has renewed and adapted his signature voice into something that is surprising, inspired and more than I thought was possible.

3.5 great | KillJester | January 28th 23 | Despite a few weaker cuts and some songs going on a bit too long, this album was a such a fantastic journey. The Ride has one of the best vibes ever and also the opener alone is worth listening too if you have no interest in yachty.

3.0 good | GoldenGuy444 | January 28th 23 | It is so close to something great. The album is at its peak when it is constantly shifting and juxaposing itself against itself. At points it feels almost cinematic, like the fantastic opener "The Black Seminole" which flawlessly grows and morphs through different musical ideas setting the perfect scene. There are only a few other tracks that really approach this peak. "I've Officially Lost Vision!" is one highlight which morphs and distorts creating an almost overwhelming sense of stress. The closer, "Reach the Sunshine" also approaches these heights which its long spacious outro juxtaposed to its distorted freakout. I just wish the other tracks, which come closer to a poppier Tame Impala then the more experimental opening tracks, did a bit more with what they are given.

2.0 poor | DadEsquire | August 11th 23 | this album feels like an "important" album, or one that wants to be seen as "important." it's cluttered. kinda boring. feels like it's pandering to a certain kind of guy, and it looks like it's working.

1.5 very poor | LikeWindOnANipple | February 2nd 23 | This album is like being at a disco on lean. It makes me feel like I need better weed. At best, there are some vague references to classic artists, but more like b-sides. The features tend to show how much more Lil Yachty would need to do to really bring the instrumentals to life. I did not want to revisit one song on here, but I'll give him kudos for trying something different. Maybe I'll like the next one.

3.0 good | WalrusTusk | January 31st 23 | An ambitious concept that lacks the lyrical strength to match it and consistency across its run time.

3.4 great | Erwann S. STAFF | January 31st 23 | Mumble rapper goes psych??? This planet is doomed. Thankfully, Yachty has done his homework properly and didn't pull out a Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven. This is due to a gorgeous (if a tad overdone) production (SB2H was horrendous on that point), and his singing, while not constantly perfect or excellent, fits the aesthetic. Some tunes extend their length to unnecessary levels, and some songs would benefit from a bona fide singer, but hey, this is Yachty's project. The wild stylistic shift is laudable but is also the main reason people are overrating this. It's a great psych album; it just turns out it was made by a dude who previously was known for hedonistic mumble pop rap.

1.0 awful | MatyMasaryk | January 31st 23 | Appreciate the effort to come out of his shell, but this amount of autotune is still just unlistenable for me.

4.0 excellent | Faraudo | January 31st 23 | Holy fuck this is actually good! Itīs not particularly daring or anything, but I can appreciate Lil Yachty for venturing into a whole different genre and stepping outside of his comfort zone.

3.5 great | gryndstone | January 29th 23 | Mark this down as most out of left field in at least a year, and probably for the year to come. Lil Yachty and his team produce a...psych rock album. And it's pretty good. Vocals are expected from lil boat and lyrics meander at times but respect to putting together the vision - a lot of these instrumentals are really enjoyable
