One of my all time favorite albums. Excellent mix of thrash and prog with some crazy vocals that are out of this world.

Yeeeeeeehaaaah!
What a brilliant thrash (progressive) metal debut. It not only offers some of the most exciting, raw old school thrash metal stuff ("Black Future", "Hunger for Violence") since "Motorbreath" or "My last words", but also more demanding progressive songs like the closing track "Accelerating Universe" where Vektor, for example, ingeniously incorporate some post rock elements.
Most of the guitar solos are just awesome 80s thrash metal stuff, the drums are very solid, there are more than just a few highly memorable bass lines and David Disanto's vocals (screams, growls, squeals) are nothing less than perfect.
There are only a few points that made me refuse from rate this 4.5 stars: Some breaks may have been done more elegantly, the short (!) Yngwie Malmsteen part in "Forests of legend" made me shiver and "Desoxyribonucleic Acid" and "Asteroid" are a little weaker than the rest.
EDIT: May, 2011: Yeah. Test of time and so on. Love DNA now. 4.4 stars.

blazing thrash with dani shrieks, who could resist?

It's a shame these guys broke up, considering they had three tech-thrash classics to their name. They ended on an extremely high note, but they also began on a note almost as high. Black Future is one hell of a mission statement, with insanely complex, yet cohesive, riffs flying everywhere, drumming that is out of this world in speed and fluidity, a bass with a mind of its own (in a good way), and vocals that one cannot even begin to describe. There's a bit of a lull in middle of the album, specifically "Deoxyribonucleic Acid" and "Asteroid"; while they're both very good songs, they simply aren't on the same level as the others, which keeps the album from garnering a perfect score. That said, "Oblivion" and closer "Accelerating Universe" are two songs that any tech-thrash band would kill to have in their discography, with the former's unbelievably fluid transitioning and the latter's incredible build-up and climax. It's truly a debut to remember from a band to remember, and if you're a fan of thrash in any way, this is definitely one you should hear without delay.

Hugely impressive progressive thrash album. I haven't heard Demolition but this rips far beyond other extreme thrash releases like Inventor Of Evil. Funnily enough it reminds me of a mix of Destruction (drums and vocals, some riffs), Metallica (Most of the riffs) and Voivod (the progressiveness).

Not keen on this style of vocals. I'm more of a screamo girl. The sound is too contained and like thrashing to coffee percolating while I fix toast in the morning when I'd rather have a cup of tea. Where's the depth of sound?

Thrash is one of my metal subgenres and I have listened to a lot of artists due to that. Vektor took what had already been done and then added to it in a unique way. By adding a touch of Progressive Black Metal into it, they elevated the sound of thrash in a nice way. Enter the new wave of thrash metal.

Of all the debut's in modern thrash metal, this easily takes the cake as being the best of the lot. The vocals are absolutely demented, sounding like a raging wilderbeats, the drumming is chaotic and the bass work is stupendous. It is the guitar work that really leaps out here, however, from the sweep-picked soloing madness to the madness-inspiring riffs across the entire album, each track here is a classic. This is progressive/technical thrash metal done properly, with style and with balls of truth, as every song flows fantastically and this release will not bore throughout its entire hour-long duration. This is how to make a modern thrash metal album, Havok, sit up and take note.
